  • Full 4K in and out
For whatever reason you want to capture video from an HDMI source, this module makes it easy. It might be recording your video games for streaming, or digitizing a movie, it's hard to find an easier solution. I started out with a stand-alone video recorder, but that recorded only to a FAT32 formatted memory module which didn't interact well with my Macintosh computers. Then I switched to a "capture card" that connected directly to the computer. That proved to be a better solution, as I didn't have to move large files from one device to another. While that one accepted 4K input, the output was standard HD. This "capture card" module accepts a 4K UHD input, and outputs a 4K digitized video file. It's USB C compliant, and gets its power from that source as well. The need for only two cables, an HDMI input and a USB C output, makes it really easy to install. There's are line in and mic in jacks in case you want to add additional audio to your stream. An HDMI output jack is provided for monitoring. Lights on top tell you the current operating status, so you can see problems right away. Because it follows the USB device standards, no extra drivers or software are needed to work with modern operating systems, including Mac OS, Linux, and Windows. I've been using free software: OBS is recommended, but there's a learning curve, and VLC works well and is much simpler. OBS has a lot of features and is worth learning to use. The quality of the output is great, and the file sizes are pretty reasonable, but this will depend on the software you use. The device gets warm with use, but not to an alarming level, and that's normal. It's hard to believe you can get full 4K in and out at this price point! ... show more

  • Seems to only capture my mistakes and losses in games.
Ah, behold the 4K Video Capture Card, a device that straddles the line between “cutting-edge tech” and “what sorcery is this?” It’s like the love child of a USB cable and a high-definition TV. Let’s dissect this marvel, shall we? Name and Identity Crisis: The name alone is a mouthful. It’s like the product manager had a bet with the universe: “I dare you to fit every possible feature into the title.” And voilà! We have a card that streams, records, dances the cha-cha, and probably makes a mean omelette. But wait, there’s more! It’s not just a 4K capture card; it’s a 4K 30Hz/1080 60Hz HDMI to USB 3.0 Video Audio Capture Card. Say that three times fast without spraining your tongue. Ultra-Low Latency: This card boasts ultra-low latency. Your gameplay will be smoother than a buttered dolphin sliding down a rainbow. Seriously, you’ll react to enemies before they even spawn. It’s like having a psychic connection with your console. Imagine playing CofD and yelling, “I see you, camper!” before the camper even realizes they’re camping. That’s the power of ultra-low latency. Compatibility Dance Party: It’s like the card attended a compatibility rave. It grooves with PS5, PS4/Pro, Xbox Series X/S, and probably your grandma’s ancient VCR. It’s the ultimate wingman for your gaming setup. And guess what? It’s BFFs with OBS (Open Broadcaster Software). They chat over coffee, share memes, and occasionally stream live gameplay. It’s a beautiful friendship. Plug-and-Play Magic: No drivers needed. No sacrifices to the tech gods. Just plug it in, and it’s ready to party. It’s like the Gandalf of capture cards: “You shall not pass… without recording your epic boss fight.” Plus, it’s powered by unicorn tears (or maybe just USB 3.0). Either way, it’s hassle-free. ... show more

  • Perfect for Capturing Camera footage for Twitch
So, got this for primarily to capture my camera for twitch. My mirror less cam can plug directly to my PC and function as a webcam but unfortunately the footage is subpar, and not the best quality if you're trying to get a a crisp webcam footage like some of the bigger channels has. Setup was very easy and straightforward for me, everything was plug and play. I have a lumix S5iiX and this worked flawless for me especially since my camera has a full size HDMI port, if your camera doesn't you'll have to get a adaptor. I was able to take full advantage of my camera's video setting and have a lag free experience. This capture device is priced around the same as a El Gato Camlink 4k. With the only difference being the form factor and the included software El Gato has. Though I feel this capture device has abit more utility since there's a mic port and line in compared to the Camlink. As far as con's goes, the device gets warm when in use, though nothing major. And the last being there's no software if you want configure things unfortunately. Overall, this is a great buy over the Camlink since it has more functionality compared to the Camlink. I can't comment on the recording in terms of gaming since I didn't use mine for that. ... show more

  • It locked up a lot under linux when testing different options.
I tested this on my linux machine. When connecting with the included USB cable, it wouldn't work at all. I tried a higher quality USB cable, from one of my other devices, and it was then able to connect. I tested this with vlc and guvcview. With VLC is defaults to a slow streaming format. Guvcview lets you swith to different formats, and this box had excellent streaming performance with YUYV and NV12, but it crashed when trying to test BGR3. When it crashes, you have to unplug and reconnect the capture box. You also have to force close the capture program. You may have to do this a bunch of times too. It reeealy didn't like BGR3 mode. I tried the same tests, with s similar device, and that device never locked up, and never locked the capture software. Given that, I think there are firmware and driver issues with this device running on linux. Still, if you set it for the right settings, and don't change them, it far outperforms my other device in terms of frame rate and picture quality. Enjoy. ... show more
