Pros: Simple and easy install. Took about 30 minutes to put both front and rear cameras in. The included trim tool is really nice and makes the install faster. The cable length was adequate (front camera cable just *barely* fit my Dodge grand caravan minivan, the rear camera cable had plenty of excess which I tucked into the pillar trim). Video quality is good--better than most cheap dash cams, and certainly adequate for most insurance purposes. The camera is fairly full-featured and easy to get set up. The included app is easy to use and is available in the google play store. Cons: The front camera cable was just barely long enough for my minivan (when wrapped along the underside of the dash to the door, then up the side of the dash, then up the A pillar and across to the center of the windshield). It would easily fit any sedan or small SUV, but if you have a very large vehicle with a huge dash and large windshield then it might not have enough length to get all the way to the center of the windshield. The video quality on this dash cam is very good. The front 4K footage is wide and detailed, and even at night the picture remains clear. It’s not perfectly crisp if you zoom in, but that’s expected since the camera records through a windshield. Overall, the footage is clear and reliable. The audio is okay, but it’s definitely better when the car is completely quiet. If you’re driving or there’s normal background noise like the road, AC, or general movement inside the car, the sound comes through a little muffled. You can hear conversations inside the vehicle as long as people are speaking clearly and there isn’t much competing noise. It’s not super crisp, but it’s understandable. As for outside the car, it doesn’t really pick that up well. If someone is talking outside the vehicle, you’re probably not going to hear them clearly in the footage. It seems more geared toward recording audio within the cabin rather than anything happening outside. Installation for the front camera is straightforward. It mounts easily and starts recording automatically when the car turns on. One thing to know is that the camera has to be powered on in order to access the app to review footage or change settings. I would prefer to be able to access stored files without having the device fully on. I also don’t like that every time the camera powers on, the WiFi name and password display on the screen. I haven’t found a way to disable that. From a security standpoint, that’s not ideal. If someone stole the camera, the credentials would be right there. The wiring is something to consider. The cords are long, which helps if you plan to tuck them away, but very few clips are included. If you’re not comfortable removing trim or lining, like me, the wires will be noticeable. I also have a hatchback, and when the hatch opens, the rear camera cord and camera move with it. Because the hatch opens and closes frequently, the cord gets pulled and shifts, which isn’t ideal. For that reason, I chose not to use the rear camera. Overall, the camera and in-car audio performance are strong, which is the most important part. The wiring setup, hatchback compatibility, and security display are the main drawbacks for me, but the recording quality itself is solid. ... show more
