I recently ordered the 48x27 half round fireplace mat. We have a wood burning fireplace that sometimes pops out hot embers. I ordered this to be sure out area rug doesn't get ruined or worse. The mat is lightweight. The material has a weird feel to it. Your shoes won't stick to it though. The bottom has no grips, so it moves around easily. The mat also doesn't lay quite flat. I haven’t actually used this mat yet, but I’m contemplating sending it back. I’m sure it is useful and effective, but it is ugly. I guess I should have read more reviews before I bought it, because a lot of people are saying the same thing. It is rubber. Plain, black rubber. I will maybe give it a try because I am trying to protect my cowhide rug….so maybe I’ll come back with a different review. ... show more

I like the product and so far the only down side is that it is BLACK and shows EVERYTHING. I have a dog and her fur sticks to it. It does the intended job and protects the floor so it still deserves the stars!!!
