    • Versatile cables for more than just Bowflex
As the product page makes clear, these are intended as replacement cables configured specifically for several Bowflex models. As such, they are of comparable value and quality to other cables for this intended purpose. As 43" general purpose cables, using only the cable portion of this assembly (i.e., not the using the hook bracket), they work very well, but are considerably more expensive than many other alternative cables. So the premium you pay is for the bracket assembly which makes them a "turn key" replacement for the Bowflex. However, there are potential advantages for obtaining this bracket assembly for use in other cable/pulley systems. The open bent rod is quite sturdy and strong enough for resistances in the body weight range. It can serve as a convenient attachment adaptor to connect flat solid webbing and flexible resistance bands up to your pulleys and cable weight stack. This can be advantageous for several reasons but my favorite is that it provides the ability to combine the progressive load of resistance bands with the variable fixed resistance of a weight stack. This "soft" initial loading is gentle on the joints and connective tissues when loading the knee during leg extensions and curls, hip extenders during single leg lifts, rotator cuff during arm work, and even for neck work. Those familiar with mixing bands with fixed weights (i.e., barbells) already know the enhancement that bands provide to both concentric and eccentric loading at the limits of ROM. This cable/rod assembly brings that enhancement to your cable machine by providing an convenient attachment with a width that allows flat bands and webbing to stay flat (unlike a carabiner) and with a rod radius than is gentle to the fold in the band. This may not be for everyone, but for those interested in exploring this combination, these cables justify their price premium over conventional cable replacements or extensions. So my rating is based not only on quality of the materials and construction, but also the value that comes with this added versatiity when used with any cable machine. ... show more

    • Good quality but repurposed
I bought these fitness cables to add to my pulley system, not for their intended purpose. They work great and are capable of lifting in excess of 150lbs individually. I have no issues with them, and they have been a great addition to my home gym.
