If you're in the market for a very good planer but don't have a lot of space, you can stop here. I've been using this now for a few days and I can honestly say it's definitely worth the money. I do a lot of work with resin and charcuterie boards as well as hardwoods like dense purple Heart Wood. I still have a good Ridgid 3 knife planer but the knives dulled very quickly, especially with resin. This unit doesn't even compare. At all. I purchased the unit with the carbide blades and they chew through anything I have thrown at them with ease. I like the fact that it's got two speeds so when I'm sending dense Hardwood or resin through it, it doesn't need to work nearly as hard to do the job. It does strain sending end grain cutting boards in when I have no other alternative to smooth them out. Sure, it's a big bite out of your wallet but you will be glad you bit the bullet on this one. ... show more

I've had this for just over one month. Like all similar planers, it tends to 'hiccup' creating slight depressions about two inches from each end of the workpiece. The media could not be loaded. Absolutely love this planer, runs great, leaves about a 150 grit finish. I’ve ran many many BF of hardwoods (walnut,hard maple, apple etc) and it’s just chugging right along. Dust collection isn’t the best but works good enough. This is my first planer so I don't have a product to compare to; however, the quality of this product feels and looks outstanding. Most tools come shrouded in lots of plastics, but Cutech does not.
