I installed this 2500 lb boat trailer winch on a small trailer that I use for a fishing boat and occasionally a jet ski. I was mainly looking for something with stronger gearing and smoother operation than the older unit it replaced. After mounting it and putting it through a few load and unload cycles, it feels like a noticeable step up in build quality. The high carbon steel gears are visibly wider and thicker than what I am used to seeing in light duty winches. Under load, the 5.4 to 1 gear ratio strikes a good balance between speed and control. It retrieves the strap quickly, but you still have enough leverage to avoid feeling like you are fighting it. The two way ratchet mechanism is solid, and the switch has a more substantial feel than typical stamped levers. Switching between forward pull and controlled reverse release is straightforward and predictable. The included 33 foot polyester strap feels durable and spools evenly with a bit of attention. The handle is longer and thicker than average, which does reduce hand fatigue, especially when pulling the last bit of weight up onto the trailer. The textured grip helps when your hands are wet. Installation was simple with the included hardware, though I did double check alignment to make sure the strap tracked straight. It is not lightweight, but that comes with the heavier construction. For light to medium duty marine and trailer use, this is a dependable manual winch that feels built to handle regular work.

This heavy duty boat trailer winch with strap was impressive right out of the box. The first thing I noticed was the thick, durable polyester strap, and the large, comfortable handle, both of which make a difference when you’re loading a boat, especially after a long day on the water. The strap itself feels very well-made and is UV resistant, which is important if your trailer sits outside regularly. It gives me confidence that it won’t quickly fade, crack, or weaken overtime. The winch is constructed from high carbon steel with a galvanized finish, which should provide excellent resistance to rust and corrosion in both fresh and saltwater environments. Another standout feature is the gear system. The gears are wide and solid and during use, they feel smooth and consistent while cranking. That added stability makes pulling the boat up onto the trailer feel more controlled and less strenuous. The winch features an enhanced gear system with high-carbon steel gears that deliver a super smooth operation and is great for towing boats, trailers or anything else you may need to move. We have a pontoon boat that the winch was starting to rust out and the strap was starting to just fall apart. So when I saw this I knew that I needed to get this and try it out. First off this thing is solid and you can tell it is built with great quality in mind. The strap itself is very solid and I know that it is not going to break when trying to winch my boat up on my trailer. It says it's anti rust so I'm thankful for that because the weather will not make this thing rust. The installation was very easy as this just mounted straight to the holes that were already there from the old one. It's also very nice that all of the bolts have lock nuts on them so you also don't have to worry about this thing falling apart. Overall this is a great quality product and a great value for your money because of how much better this is than buying one from the big box store.

For the money, this winch is super nice. It is so much more heavy duty than the oem winch on my Shorelandr boat trailer. I also appreciate the wide gear ratio, as it makes cranking the boat onto the trailer really fast. Of course the tradeoff for a higher gear ratio is that it takes a bit more effort to get the boat snugged up, but that's a tradeoff I can live with, and I really don't notice it being any harder to crank our light 16 foot deck boat onto the trailer. That is probably due to the much longer crank arm. This winch features a much wider and stronger strap than my old winch also. It also features a nice heavy duty hook. The overall construction is not only really sturdy, but the fit and finish of the various components is really nice. The galvanizing looks to be heavy and even, so should resist rust very well. Overall, I am very happy with this winch, and feel it deserves a 5 star rating for quality, function, heavy duty construction, and real value for the money!
