This is an ICE engine. It contains no battery. More like a big weedeater motor. Once fully fueled and full of oil, it starts right up. You may have to start it a couple of time for the fuel to make its rounds though. Gave me about 15-20 mph on 10 ft. Dinghy at 2/3 throttle. Good product, and light weight to.

Honest review! You must read if you’re gonna buy. This is a good motor that will do what it says it’s gonna do but the engine does need broken in. If the engine is not broken in, you will experience all of the things in the bad star reviews. I ran this engine for an hour and changed the oil and there was a lot of metal flakes in the oil. I did this repeatedly 10 times running it for an hour and then changing the oil. Running it for an hour and changing the oil. It was 10 times before the metal flakes finally dissipated and now the engine runs great if you break it in it will run like you want. that’s why I give it three stars. The manual says there is no break-in needed not true.!!!

The motor runs rough,is very loud,stalled on me a few times,doesn't have much power. Im afraid to use it again because I dont want it to break down and leave me stranded. Im trying to send it back,but the seller isn't responding.

Order this item and it work fine for about 15 minutes after that it started bogging and skipping and kept turning off I tried changing the spark plug changing the oil and adjusting the idle nothing worked and I reached out to customer service with no response
