This looks great, and I was excited to have it, but it is difficult to open and close (I already have a Cosco folding stool on another floor in the house, and it's WAY better). It also started to come apart soon after I bought it. It still works, but there are better step stools out there. That was my original review. Since then, I received an email offering me $45 to change my review, as the company is 'small and struggling.' I almost did, that'd be an easy $45. But then I realized that I bought the ladder because of good reviews. How many people have been duped by this scumbag company? I refuse to participate in a scheme that has people spending good money on a substandard product. Save yourself the disappointment. There are plenty of good products out there. I am a big kid (400#), so getting up on ladders to change out light bulbs and whatnot is kind of dicy, especially with a torn meniscus. I really like this step stool in that it felt sturdy on my test run and it's got a nice handle to hang onto, both while you climb up and while you are on it. I don't have a fear of heights, but since I tore my knee it has been really hard to find a way to get up to get to those basic little tasks around the house. The step stool I have been using is not rated for my weight and the ladder I have is too steep for me to feel safe on it anymore. I think this thing is going to come in really handy. ... show more

There is NO way this piece of junk with plastic steps can hold 500 pounds There is no, unlike your Web photo, sticker or indication this stool is rated for 500 pounds I weigh 280 and the bottom step flexed as was about to break as I eased myself up and onto the bottom rung. This is a very well made ladder. I am 5’2” and I can use it to scrape the ceiling, dust fans, etc with the top step to spare. It’s just the right height for cleaning but we also plan to use it to remodel our sunroom, because the height is so great. I also want to say that the enamel finish is more baked on, so it looks to be on there to last. There is a soft spongy grip on the handle that makes transporting it easier. It’s also much lighter than I had expected for something so sturdy. My unboxing advice, if the ladder wobbles adjust the feet. Ours spun in shipment and it wasn’t sitting level, but a quick turn made it sit completely level. ... show more

Admittedly, we already have 4', 6', 8', and 12' folding ladders, a work platform, 16' and 32' extension ladders, and a folding 2-step stool so it would seem like having a 4-step stool would be unnecessary. However, totally NOT the case because we actually bought this specifically for painting and it's great. Having previously painted several house interiors utilizing various ladders to do so, I now feel spoiled with this larger step stool. Going up and down a ladder, standing on the narrow steps with your shins banging into the next step, and having no where to easily set your paint bucket are all issues with using something like a 4' or 6' folding latter to paint inside. Folding and moving a folding ladder is also a bit more tricky due to its bulk. We have 9' and 10' ceilings in this house, so the 4 steps on this stool enables me to get right up there easily and safely to cut in at the ceiling and the tool tray holds either round or square (i.e., Dutch Boy) paint cans or other paint buckets. The top handle also provides a place to lean, if necessary. The stool also folds down to only about 2" thick which makes it super easy to move around, carry up and down stairs, and to store when not in use. The only thing to be aware is that some assembly is required, but it's very easy and the necessary tools (two Allen wrenches) are included. It only takes 10 minutes to unbox, unwrap, and then install the two screws for the handles and 4 other screws for the tool tray. Overall I am very pleased with this step stool and already used it to paint the ceiling in the bathroom and will be starting on the walls soon. I'm loving this step stool / ladder so far. I purchased 2 of these to keep around my warehouse for easy accessibility. I decided on this particular ladder for the weight capacity. I have several guys who weigh 250lb+ and its hard to find ladders that hold decent weight.
