Not too bad of a sharpener. Like it so far. I've only had this sharpener a week, so I reserve the right to update my review if needed. In using...I may have to use it on some knives multiple times due to the knife itself being VERY dull, and once I finally get them sharp, I should be able to keep them sharp with just a few passes. (hopefully) Reason I took off a star, was the "cut resistant gloves". They are SO SMALL, I can't get them on my hand. I wear a large glove, and these look like they were made for a small CHILD, or a petite hand. They don't stretch very much, and are useless to me. But, as long as the product performs well, I'm not going to worry about the gloves. They were a "freebie" in my opinion. ... show more

I received this and used it to put a good edge on a Bowie Knife which has a very heavy blade The sharpener worked quite well The instructions for use are on the box I see some complaints listed in the reviews but suspect misuse The sharpener is easy to use but not idiot proof. Just be careful and do not rush The first step states to put some pressure on the knife but the weight of the heavy bladed Bowie was enough although the knife was new and, while sharp, was nowhere near what it should be Too much pressure might make it difficult It took about 10 minutes to bring the knife up to my standard ... show more

This knife sharpener works well, I have a small paring knife that's been used as a utility to open food packaging and scraping meat off bones and it has dulled considerably over the years, after only a few minutes it's been sharpened almost to it's original sharpness, as the Q&A mentioned this may not work with pocket or tactical knives for the differing edge angles, but for kitchens knives, works great. ... show more

I've had some steak knives for 5 years and they were getting dull. I put the stakes knives through the sharpener and the results couldn't be better. However, I couldn't figure out how to sharpen scissors. It's not the device. It's me.

As described perfect for occasional amateur use but it is plastic and will not hold up long because when sharpening knives the plastic on the sharpeners gets cut. So eventually you will cut all the way through the plastic. But you get what you pay for.
