this auger is impressive
We like everything about this auger. The fact that the screws were anti slip screws makes this sturdy auger work well without having to tighten the screws when reversing out of the hole. Living in AZ the "dirt" is alkaline and hard to get through. We make our own PVC deep irrigator 3 foot long stakes for deep watering fruit and pecan trees and this makes the holes easy to do. Recommend watering the ground thoroughly before using.

Compost stirring tool
Bought for stirring my compost with, and works great! Be careful with overheating your drill however. Don't go too crazy for too long, it gets hot!

Saves LOTS of time and LOTS of energy!
I used this to drill holes for anchoring a portable garage. There were 6 pcs 24" long anchors. It took half the day wearing out my arms to get one in by hand using a pipe through the eye of the anchor. Then I ordered this. It took about 5 minutes each to drill the holes for the rest. Fabulous! You DO have to rest the drill handle against your leg or body for support to prevent a broken wrist when you hit a rock or root and your power screwdriver spins. I was a bit skeptical, but I am sure glad I gave this a try!

Great tool for turning compost beds without all the work!
I'm using this to turn my compost piles. Usually I'm too lazy to turn my compost piles like I should so they sit for a year or more before turning into compost. Attached to a decent drill, I can turn my compost piles thoroughly without the labor of moving the compost pile from one bin to another. Simply push the rotating auger into the pile and pull it up bringing deeper material to the surface. I use a moderately priced Dewalt drill ($100) range so if it bogs down, I pull up the auger and then stick it back in the same hole and continue until the auger is at the bottom of the pile. In just a few minutes I can turn the entire pile and move on to another compost pile. So much easier and it's even sort of fun, especially compared to the labor intensive method of turning the whole pile with a pitchfork. I'll probably also use the auger to plant my transplants but have not used it for this yet. This auger is ideal for home gardeners.

Faster than digging
Actually works quite well. If you’re digging for a 4x4 post I’d suggest one size larger. Hold drill firmly because if it hits a root it will twist the drill and your wrist. Also don’t let it screw itself into the ground. Go about 8 to 12 inches at a time, then pull up to clean out loose dirt.

Total waste of money. Auger spiral is too short for drilling the while length of the tool.

Easy work of planting 150 plants
This made very easy work of planting over 150 plants we got from a local garden center. The only reason it has 4 stars is that it comes in 2 parts and is reliant on a couple of hex screws which could create issues with continued torsion stress. Will see how it works over time, but for the price I think it's worth it.
