Description

The 3M™ Littmann® Lightweight II S.E. Stethoscope is an ideal entry level instrument, with a tunable diaphragm, dual sided chestpiece, and reliable acoustic performance. Its teardrop shape makes auscultation around blood pressure cuffs easier. The 3M™ Littmann® Lightweight II S.E. Stethoscope provides reliable acoustic performance for taking blood pressure readings and making limited physical assessments of adult patients. Weighing just 118 grams, it’s the lightest of all Littmann adult stethoscopes, making it more comfortable for caregivers who wear their stethoscopes all day long. The Lightweight II S.E. stethoscope is an entry-level instrument that offers a surprising number of beyond-the-basics features such as a tunable diaphragm, dual-sided chestpiece, and adjustable headset. It’s a good choice for medical professionals such as LPNs, licensed vocational nurses, certified nursing assistants, and nursing students. Tunable diaphragm technology—a 3M invention—lets clinicians hear different frequency sounds by simply adjusting the pressure on the chestpiece. Hold the chestpiece with light pressure to hear low frequency sounds; press a little more to hear higher frequency sounds. This time-saving feature allows the healthcare provider to focus on the patient, while the non-chill diaphragm and rim provide patient comfort. Resilient tubing retains its shape and flexibility even after folding tightly into a pocket. Headset tension is easily adjusted for head size and comfort by squeezing together or pulling apart the eartubes. Snap-tight, soft-sealing eartips conform to individual ears for an excellent acoustic seal and comfortable fit. Eartips snap firmly onto the ends of the eartubes and, for safety, require a significant effort to remove. Next-generation tubing is not made with natural rubber latex, a benefit to sensitive medical professionals and their patients. And, to play its part in the protection of human health and the environment, the next-generation tubing does not contain phthalate plasticizers. The Lightweight II S.E. stethoscope is made in the USA for consistent quality. It comes complete with large soft-sealing eartips and instructions. Put the power of improved listening in your pocket with the Littmann Learning App. This powerful app is designed to help users better recognize benign and pathological heart sounds, murmurs, and lung sounds. It reinforces learning by offering self-directed learning modules directly on your phone. You can download the free Littmann Learning App now from the App Store® or Google Play Store®. • Excellent scope for the money
Have you ever tried to have a conversation with someone in the steam room of a 1930's ocean liner? No? Ok, what about trying to watch a movie on your iPhone next to a demonstration booth celebrating 100 years of jackhammer technological advancements? Well, even if you oddly never had these experiences, that's sort of what it is like to scope a talking patient in the back of an ambulance with snow chains clanking as you rumble over a moon-field of potholes while the siren screams hopelessly to get the phone-addict in front of you to pull over. These ears are perfect for exactly three reasons: 1. They are Littmanns. Yes yes yes, that's a quality name brand and all that, but it's far, FAR more important to rock the same swag the ER doctors have, who of course all use Littmanns. 2. They have a mono-tubular design. I had previously used a cheaper pair that had two tubes - one per ear - and I found that they actually worked pretty well on scene or while the ambulance was stationary. However, the swaying, rattling, jolting experience of riding the back of a bone bus made the tubes vibrate and collide, creating surprisingly loud thumps that masked over the pulse - especially if the patient presented with an arrhythmia, making identification of a pattern and count difficult. 3. The price is right. As indicated in Point #1, if you don't have a Littmann, you're not a cool kid and you'll be banished to your classroom's coloring table with the annoying kid that always talks about Batman. Usually Littmanns are prohibitively expensive for an EMT like me, but these are priced just right. Sure, they won't compare to the higher end models, but you are getting a good scope for not much money. Recommended. ... show more

  • Highly recommend even if you're not a doctor or nurse practitioner.
I always wanted one of these growing up, and now I have one even though I'm not a medical doctor. Great sturdy construction. Built with good materials, feels weighty and looks like it will last for a bit. Only concern is if you place your hand over the part that sits on a persons' chest, or if you fingers lightly touch that area, it picks up the sound of your fingers rubbing against it. Perhaps this is normal, but it seems overly sensitive to sound. The work around is you lightly place two fingers around the part, and you can usually get away without any noise distortion. I like using this to listen to my pets heartbeat, my own heartbeat, my lungs, stomach. It's really neat, everything I imagined, and can be quite soothing to use at times. Highly recommend even if you're not a doctor or nurse practitioner. ... show more

  • Great Stethoscope
I'm both a C.N.A. in a local Hospital as well as an E.M.T. so I use 'scopes a good deal. These are both a great entry level stehoscope as well as a daily use. Unless you are in a specialty these work just fine for everything from Blood Pressures to Lung Sounds to Abdominal Sounds. They are light weight, (hence the name) so they don't drag on your pocket and the price is great. One hint, because the tubing on these and all other 'scopes are made from a type of PVC they are degraded by the fatty oils coming from your skin. Carry them in your pocket and not draped around your neck and they will last a long time. ... show more

  • Great value
I’ve been using this to practice taking vitals in an Emergency Medical Technician course. The sound is great and the quality of stethoscope feels nice while being light weight. I have practiced this on young adults and seniors without a difference in sound quality for their heartbeats. But if you’re working with overweight patients, this might not get you the sounds you’re looking for. I plan on using this as I continue on to working as an EMT and upgrading later on down the road. ... show more

  • Works well, priced-well...longer tubing would be nice
Like the light-weight Littman. I would like a longer tube that would stay around my neck better (it falls off sometimes).

  • Perfect for EMT use :-)
Attention EMTS: You'll see a lot of reviews that say "Purchase the Cardiology III stethoscope by Littmann" "The only stethoscope worth buying is the Cardiology III stethoscope by Littmann" Let me tell you something...unless you NEED the Cardiology III, this stethoscope works PERFECTLY FINE! It is dual tuned for "peds" and "adults" but when I am taking someones BP and they have a low quality pulse sound I use the "pediatric" side. To use either side, it's as simple as twisting the tube and flipping the bell. This has a great price tag, I can hear a BP or lung sounds very well even with the ambulance engine running or a patients tv blaring. You are more than welcome to purchase the more expensive steth just to say you have a $100 stethoscope but you'll come running back here screaming "WHY DIDN'T I BUY THIS ONE?" once you forget your ears and borrow a co-worker's who has a 3M Littmann LightWeight II" Pros: Lightweight Inexpensive Great Colors Dual tune Cons: Haven't found any yet *been using this since July* ... show more
