This is the 4th Littman I've bought in 32 years. The last one several years ago had an issue with the tubing getting sticky with cleaning. I do not know if this one will have the same problem yet. I haven't read anywhere where this is happening with the Cardiology IV, so I'm hopeful it won't. First of all, I do not hear well. I have an auditory processing disorder plus I can't hear 5 sounds in one ear. I struggle with sound. The Cardiology IV provides the best sound I've ever experienced from a stethoscope in my 33 years of being a nurse. It is a quality instrument in every way. I love the 2 sizes of diaphragm on it. I work in L&D, so it helps with listening to adults as well as babies all in one device. The ear pieces are snug and comfortable. The tubing is just the right length to not be too long or too short. Also, because I do appreciate aesthetics as well as quality, It's absolutely beautiful as well as perfectly functional. I do not have any negatives except possibly the price, but it is worth $200+ to me. I also appreciate that I was able to use my FSA card to purchase and exclude that amount from my taxable income. 🙂 ... show more

Littmann's Cardiology 4 remains one of the best stethoscopes available. I note that despite the use of a softer material for the tube, the sound quality remains exceptional. I hope that it will hold up well to time. The device is lightweight and looks good with the red accent. My only disappointment is that the Lithmanns service does not allow for customisation. Looking forward to many years of service with my 4th scope in 20 years. ... show more

If you are in clinical rotations or preparing for them, or you expect to see a wide range of patients within your practice; this is the stethoscope that will cover all of your needs. It works as a conventional stethoscope, a peds stethoscope, and great for cardiology. The downside to this stethoscope is its weight: it weighs more than others due to the material used. But the material used allows for better performance in cardiology and peds. So, you will have to take the weight, but you will have a one stethoscope answer to fit all of your needs. Cardio IV...improved ability to auscultate on hard-to-hear beats. Reliable, etc. It's like my other Littmann only better. I found it fun to select colors for this, too. It's the little things that bring joy!

I had an MDF stethoscope that was provided to me but I often had trouble hearing even a normal heartbeat on patients at times and I had to squeeze the earpieces in while I listened to get a good seal, which was quite uncomfortable. This stethoscope is so much more comfortable in the sound quality and sensitivity is so much better. Worth every penny. ... show more

Im a newer EMT and also in paramedic school. This stethoscope is the best one I’ve used yet. I can hear perfectly while moving at high speeds with lights and sirens on. I bought this in October as a surgery technician at an animal clinic and with the constant noises of the dogs and cats and machines on surgery days, you can hear the heart rate clear as day.
