Description

3M 1080 WRAP FILM SERIES are long-term, removable, dual cast coloured films are designed for solid colour vehicle detailing, decoration and full wraps without graphic protection. This film's Controltac pressure-activated adhesive allows it to slide and be repositioned until firm pressure is applied. The non-visible Comply air release channels assure fast, easy and virtually bubble-free installations. These vinyl films (minimum 3.5 mil) are sold in 60 inch rolls, allowing almost any section of a vehicle to be wrapped without seams. This film is recommended for full wraps and can be applied to your vehicles hood, trunk, roof, mirrors, door handles, glass, motorcycle parts, chrome, metal parts and just about any relatively non-porous surface. I ordered the matte black. This wrap was very easy to work with! I wrapped my door handles and gas door. I didn't have a heat gun but my blow dryer work well to help apply it :) I think the outcome is lovely.

PROS: It sticks. CONS: I only know how well it sticks because I had to remove it after seeing deep scratches and wrinkles in the roll of vinyl. Once removed from the box which was not damaged in anyway, I noticed a dent/bend in the roll and a few wrinkles (It probably didn’t help that the USPS man didn’t exactly lay it down gently on the porch but just dropped it instead). I decided to go about my job of wrapping my hood when I noticed the deep scratch in the vinyl about 1/4 through the process. Obviously you can’t just pull up vinyl once you’ve applied a squeegee to it a few times, so it was rendered useless and had to be removed. The color was real nice though, guess I should have listened to all the bad reviews here but… here we are. Hate that I through $70+ in the trash, guess we’ll see about a refund. I will add that this roll was also Vivvid / 3M product. Update: Contacted seller directly and would not warranty this issue. I’d recommend finding something else to use for your projects. ... show more

    • Crinkled and Wrinkled
When we rec'd the roll it was so wrinkled and damaged it was beyond use. We tried to take out time with it and get it off the roll then it all stuck to itself to make matters even worse. Had the roll not been damaged when we got it and we'd have had maybe two more people to try ad get it off the roll so it didn't stick to itself, it would have been a lot better. Quality of the paper is ok and PLENTY of adhesion for sure. I can't even begin to imagine how tough it would be to wrap a car with this stuff? If you've ever duct tape stick to itself, this film is the same way. Hard to believe the QA department in shipping even sent his roll out like it was. Creases, wrinkles and you name it. It looked a lot like a forklift ran over it. ... show more

    • Great product but takes skill and practice

This is a great product. Easy to use? That’s a different story and proves that about 90% of any tedious job is easy. It’s the 10% that requires skill and practice. I ended up with some ugly spots on my first try around the very tight corners and other challenging areas. Nothing you can see unless you’re up close. I believe the adhesion is good and I’ll find out for sure the first time I go thru a car wash. This was a great product at a great price unfortunately the tube was been in shipping and crinkled the material but after installing it none of the crinkles showed up so everything worked out fine I think the shipper should use a stronger tube to ship hello shipper are you reading this anyway everything worked out fine and I didn't have to return it great product I used a heat gun to install it and everything turned out perfect I love it and do your research watch youtube videos before you install it I used water and soap and soaked it before I put it on if you don't use water and soapy water to install that you might have difficulties. I'm very very very happy with the way my hood looks it's awesome it's the perfect scene it couldn't be better it's the perfect color than material is good good it looks awesome and I got exactly what I wanted ... show more

First time using to black out all the chrome on my car and my son’s truck. Took my time and didn’t find it as hard as some people have mentioned. It’s still holding up under the hot humid Florida sun too. Tempted to get more material and do the entire car someday.

Used it to wrap my side mirrors, A pillars, center console, master switch control, and passenfer switch.. Better applied if you have a heatgun ( I got drill master 1500watt for about $20 at amazon). What I do to use it more economically is to measure how much I need to wrap something then cut it a little bit less on each side and then extend it using the heatgun ( doind swipes in low temperature just to get it a little warm, otherwise it will break or even worse, melt). The results are as expected. Satin black is right in the middle of matte and gloss. Soon will do my rims too. Try to cut it with a little bit left on every side so you dont have to expand it too much . When it gets hot it will shrink again and ruin the look. ... show more
