Pay attention to the reviews & what you are ordering. I am an avid cook & as seen in pics attached, my old cooktop was adequate, but had a lot of wasted space. I got this cook top mainly for the auto gas shutoff feature which I have tested. I am generally happy with the product. The installation is supposed to be easy but the lack of gas pip coupling adapters made it hard (I was lucky that I had some spare coupling adapters that could make a fit). The stainless top looks good but to my dismay is easily scratched. Better grade of materials should have been used. My main complaint is that the grates are too high for my steamers. The grates and the burner cover perhaps should also be of smooth surface so that they would be easier to clean. ... show more

The house my wife and I bought last October had an old Tappan cooktop. It was a 36" cooktop set into our rustic vertagris stained Maple butcher block counter but it was also rusting internally and starting to have failing electrical components too. So getting a new one became a priority. The problem was finding one that was the right size and affordable. We couldn't find any locally that fit our budget, or needs without spending double our max budget. So we searched on Amazon and found several but finally settled in this one because of it's design, particularly because of it's flat and uncomplicated top making cleaning easier. It came, we cut out a little bit larger hole to accommodate this new cooktops insert, hooked it all up with a new line and it turned out really nicely. We love the unique pattern on the cast iron grates. The grates themselves seem lighter than any others we had looked at, which was an issue for my petite wife. Have five burners is a nice bonus as our old one had four. The burners have different outputs which is nice and it is easy to figure out since they are physically sized to match their increasing thermal output. The Italian burners work beautifully and create perfect and efficient flames (something I am fussy about given my background as a chemist and growing up in a home with a home economics teacher). They light nicely and everything is well protected from spills, unlike our old cooktop. Cleaning this is easy and the grates are clearly marked for their locations and orientations (stamped right into the top of the grates). Oh and nothing feels cheap. Even the knobs are satisfyingly in feel and operation, which most we had looked at in the stores felt cheaper. This is a great cook top. We have seen the complaints of others that the writing can wear off but honestly, that is such a minor issue. If it happens to ours, my wife will probably just paint on new ones, since she loves doing that. We couldn't be happier with this well made and reasonably priced cooktop. When looking to replace our cooktop, we wanted something that was beautiful, and we succeeded with this cooktop. Yes it functions as well as any other stove but we were tired of all the same boring other brands. This Gasland Chef was perfect for us. Everyone that comes into our kitchen comments on how nice it looks. Sorry my picture doesn’t do justice to the artistic wave grids, or the bright polished stainless steel / chrome burners, or the elegant control knob labels. And the ingenious idea of bringing the burners all the way to the corners prevents pots and pans from hitting each other and still stay centered on the burners. Kudos Gasland Chef. ... show more

I purchased this product to replace my old Brown stovetop. I had to do some cutting and shimming to fit it into my countertop. My old unit had pilot light ignition. I had an electrician install an outlet in the cabinet under the countertop. A licensed gas plumber did the propane conversion (the parts are included with unit) and the gas line hook-up. The unit works great. I have the four burner model with the controls on the side. I would suggest using a Zapp Cloth (available on Amazon) for cleaning. Great product and a good price. It's almost a year since we made this purchase. The product continues to work well. The printing on the surface indicating the use of the gas flow controls is not holding up well, despite us being very careful cleaning using a Zap cloth and warm water. The printing is not embeded into the stainless steel. I think this could be easily fixed by the manufacturer. ... show more

Just because you are replacing a 36" with a new 36" range top, don't assume that it will fit right in. The new range top was larger then the old one and it was an all day job to install including major modifications.

    • Horrible Heat control as labeled

At first use I thought I had made a big mistake because the labeling on the controls say "low" when turned all the way. IF you cook alot that is really bad. Then I noticed that you can turn the valve back towards off and get very good adjustment. So the labeling in not good. I dont care if the labels wash off. My last hob lasted 30 year and for 25 of those years there were no labels. I you can't remember what the controls do or which control works which burner throw it out and just use your microwave. I changed the jets for propane except for the big center burner so that it puts out four times the BTUs for Woking fast. I clean my kitchen like in Greece weddings-WIndex. Did not notice any horrible streaking ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Purchased in February 2021 installed December 2021. Good great . Fast cook is indeed fast cook😳. Only thing I would recommend is that the cooking markings/ guides for high, low and the cook top burners location could be engraved instead of the paint used. Been using the cook top for 3 moths and the markings/ guides and erasing. ... show more
