I'm surprised at the reviews that say this doesn't work. My husband and I eat a lot of avocado and often have a half to save. This works as well or better than plastic wrap. Since it adjusts to any size avocado (unlike other ones with a "lid") I can get firm contact every time with the cut side of the avocado.What makes this one best is the fact that it has the strap rather than a lid, so you can create an almost airtight hold. It's much more environmentally friendly than constantly using plastic or foil, and it keeps the avocado more in sight in the fridge. Also, your avocado won't get bruised from other things being put in the fridge. So here's how to use it correctly, IMHO:Place unused half of the avocado cut side down with the pit still in it. Tighten the band over the avocado, to the spot that creates a firm hold. STORE IN THE FRIDGE.I'm wondering if some of the bad reviewers were trying to leave the avocado out of the refrigerator or something. I don't even use lemon juice on the cut side - yes, when I go to use the half, I sometime slice off a very thin layer of the exposed edge, but the rest is still great 1 - 2 days later. I bought this avocado holder, somewhat against the advice of another buyer who said the straps keep breaking. Well, I'm really glad I did because I just love this thing. I also see why the other buyer said he keeps buying them, even with the strap issue. It is so easy to pull it out of the drawer, place the avocado into it, lock down the strap over it and put it in the fridge. When I get it back out in one or two days (they never last longer than that before I want to finish it) the avacodo is still nice and fresh and green. I'm really glad I no longer have to deal with frustrating saran wrap that didn't work half the time anyway. And then when I'm done with the holder it's so easy to just rinse it with a little soapy water, put in the drying rack and then put away till the next time. And because of the recommendation of the other buyer, I make sure that the strap is holding the fruit in place, but not visibly stretched and hopefully that will take care of the strap breaking issue.     • Actually makes getting the seed out easy!
We eat avocados every day (not kidding) and this tool is excellent for getting the seed out of a ripe (key word) avocado pretty cleanly and fast. When I first tried to use it, it took me a minute to figure out that you just press the prongs against the seed (after you have split the avocado in half of course), and then you slowly twist it. It will "catch" on the seed and you can pull it out - with very little or no flesh on the seed. I've been using the blade to cut them in half (very easy - just poke the point in then start cutting), and sometimes I will use the slotted end to get the flesh out (if I'm doing a salad - otherwise, I just use a spoon). The only small complaint I have is when I use the slotted end, it doesn't come up cleanly at the end of the swipe - I have to push the last bit of the flesh through. But otherwise, a great product! I've also learned that you need to rinse this off (or handwash) after use with the slots, or it will be hard to get the flesh bits off after they have hardened (then I have to use a butter knife to scrape them off). ... show more

I'm going to preface this review by saying that I live in a travel trailer. Space is incredibly limited in my kitchen, therefore I do not own many kitchen tools beyond a few trusty chef's knives, a manual can opener, and a doughnut-cutter I can't seem to part with. In the past, I had no major gripes with using a knife to cut, pit, and slice the avocado, that is, until I bought the Tonicstar 3-in-1 Avocado Slicer.Seriously, where has this been all my life? As several other reviewers have said, my avocado consumption has grown exponentially with the purchase of this tool. The pitting-portion of the tool always slides the pit out with no problem (and no fear of stabbing myself as with a knife) and the slicer works like a charm.Maybe I have poor judgment of avocado ripeness, but I always seem to cut open avocados that are maybe a day away from ripe perfection. The avocado tool makes simple work of pitting and slicing these avocados, and with a little salt I can hardly taste the difference. ... show more

Saw one of these in use on a recent cruise. Was fascinated by the speed with which the waiter used this device to turn out mass quantities of guacamole. Purchased one from Amazon. This was by Tonicstar, wired to an Tonicstar cardboard card. Decent price and speedy delivery. Have now used this a couple times on large avocados. Flesh doesn't cut quite as clean as a sharp knife, but then again you don't run the risk of cutting yourself...and cut is adequate to half the avocado. Removing the pit is fun and safer than using a sharp knife. Using the tines of the device will do a good job of scooping out the avocado...on the cruise, the waiter scooped in several directions before removing the fruit from the peel to create large chunks of avocado. Easy to clean the tines of the avocado using sprayer attachment on my kitchen faucet. Would recommend the product as something fun to use, and for anyone concerned in using a sharp knife to process their avocados. ... show more

    • Must-have for frequent avocado consumers!
I am a firm believer in owning as few specialty kitchen tools as possible, because they can pile up. However, this one is a must-have. The single slicer side is nothing special, and what it does could easily be duplicated with a knife. However, the multi-slicer side is fantastic. The rounded edge allows you to scrape the avocado from its skin, while slicing the avocado itself at the same time. The result is perfect avocado slices in one swift motion! The pit remover in the center is better then a knife because it has 3 blades that go into the pit at once, making the pit less likely to fall off when you're trying to remove it. Our first avocado slicer fell into the bottom of the washing machine and melted, so we bought another to replace it. Make sure the slicer is securely fastened in the top rack of your dishwasher, or just hand wash it. ... show more
