I have used similar sets in the past, my last one I bought for about 2/3s of the price. That kit came with 2 2.8mm, 2 2mm, 1 1.3mm, a carbide scribe, couple packs of refills each (black, red, yellow), extra sharpener for back of the 2.8s, 1 for the 2.0, and a few erasers. Not even HALF of this kit, and for not much less. Now I know what you might be thinking, why get more if I already have them. Well, between my man brain and ADHD, there is no such thing as too much when it comes to these pencils. I use them constantly now, not just in my shop but just things around the house and what not. So, I end up setting one down and the pencil gnomes must swipe it. Jokes aside, these are awesome. Don't get me wrong, metal marking tools are great. But my eyes don't always work the best these days. So, I prefer a nice dark line I can easily see. The other colors are also great when you need to mark something that is too dark for regular graphite. The 2.8mm pencils have also come in handy plenty of times. The ability to get them through a deep bracket or predrilled hole, whatever it might be, has made them something I didn't realize I needed. The 2mm are perfect daily drivers for me. The ability to sharpen both of them keeping a nice point of them, is so handy. With all the refills these come with, this kit should hopefully last me a long time! So long as the little thieves keep their hands off them... If you found yourself wondering if a kit like this is worth it, they are! And this one is a great value!

I've always just used lumber pencils, the rectangular kind, and sharpened them with a box cutter so I wasn't sure if I'd like using these mechanical pencils or not but it has been a game changer for me. The thick leads mean they don't break the way normal mechanical pencils designed for writing on paper do but you don't have to live with thick lines since the kit comes with sharpeners for the let. Since you are only sharpening lead and not wood to, it is very quick and easy. Some of the pencils have built in sharpeners which makes it super fast to touch up the lead as you go. It really has made making marks on parts much easier, faster, and more accurate. Not sure how I lived without them? I haven't used the non-black leads much yet. They seem like they might mark better on materials with a fairly rough surface? But the reason I haven't bother trying is the black lead has been working fine on a fairly wide variety of wood that I've used them on so far.
