  • Works Great
I love cooking with gas, but it is not available in my area and converting to propane was cost prohibitive. I heard that induction was just as good. I would not go that far, but it IS a bazillion times better than cooking on a regular electric cook top. One item to beware: I have had the same (awesome) stainless steel cookware for 37 years. I thought ANY stainless steel pan would work with induction. Alas, it is not so. The alloy composition is different for each manufacturer and some do not have enough iron to magnetize, and therefore induction will not happen. Any cast iron or carbon steel pan will work, and some stainless steel, also. I have noticed more manufacturers making stainless specific for induction lately. I have had the cook top for a couple years and when I first got it they were harder to find and weren't labeled (had to take a magnet with me to the store, LOL) ... show more

  • Six Months - Positive Review
This is a positive review of the 30" Sincreative induction cooktop. We have been using it for our daily cooking for six months now. The unit has been performing flawlessly. Any quibbles are related to the nature of induction. Not at all due to this unit. A bit of our history: 1) We cooked on a four burner gas cooktop for 35 years. Of course great for cooking. But even with care to avoid spills, and wipe-downs after each meal, a really major cleaning was needed every few weeks. Which included removing grates and drip-pans and letting soak in heavy duty cleaners. After the three decades, we finally lost enthusiasm for the routine. 2) So then installed a traditional type glass electric cook top. The type that glows red at higher settings. But spills easily would bake/burn hard on the surface. Then only scraping with the special razor tool, followed by glass restoring abrasive cleaners, and lots of elbow grease, would restore the surface again to acceptable appearance. Plus any scrapes made on the very hot glass when cooking at higher hear settings easily ended up as scratches that could not be removed. Also the glass would remain hot very for quite some time which prevented doing a quick after meal cleanup. 3) After six months of irritation with the normal electric, we bought a couple of plug-in portable induction units for our simple everyday needs. Loved them! Which ultimately prompted us to go induction for our main stove-top unit. After much investigation, bought the Sincreative 30" unit. Besides being necessary to have only induction approved cookware, two important understandings we have learned about induction cooking: 1) Rather than on all the time with a steady power when cooking, this and many other induction units pulsate on/off intermittently to achieve an average power setting. For example, at a medium/low setting, my unit will pulsate on for say 4 seconds, then off for 4 seconds. If using a super heavy pan (like cast iron) which has enough mass to retain the average heat, this pulsating has little effect. But if using a thin pot, the food bubbles for a few seconds, then goes quiet for a few seconds. 2) A primary reason we initially decided on the Sincreative cooktop: It has two large burners. Which other brands didn't. One is listed at 11". We cook frequently with a 12" pan. We have observed that the nature of induction is that the magnetic energy gets concentrated towards the center of the pan irrespective of the size of the burner. Because of this, even with the large 11" burner, items tend to cook quickly in center, but slower towards the out edges. So for instance, if we place six chicken thighs in the frying pan, the ones in the center brown quickly. Not so much for the thighs along the outer edge of the pan. 3) The induction energy heats only the pan/pot. Even at higher cook settings, the glass surface itself becomes only warm. So spills/splatters don't bake on. After dinner, if we do have spill or splatters, we wipe down with soapy dishwater. The spill softens. Then easy to wipe away. Showroom streak-free appearance does require a glass cleaner however. And one last final positive note: The photos on Amazon show on the surface of the cook-top two prominent white emblems etched on the upper right surface. Our unit did not have them. Nor the "Sincreative" label at the bottom. So the actual unit has a very clean on uncluttered appearance. Assuming that unit as a long lifetime, this was a great purchase! ... show more

  • Excellent induction burner but ALUMINUM wiring!
I love the cooktop. In America we use copper wiring, but this cooktop has aluminum wiring. Only because hooking this up aluminum to copper can actually cause your home to burn to the ground, you MUST use a licensed electrician. There are tiny copper looking ends applied to the ends of the aluminum, making it appear deceptively like copper. Thankfully, my husband is a skilled, retired hotel engineer, and is experienced with knowing what to look so he took a few extra steps to ensure this was safely, and properly installed. I cannot stress enough that you must have someone experienced and licensed to install this! It’s a great stove top if you do. UPDATE after using the cooktop for more than one week: Wonderful! The cooktop is a dream to use, and is the most accurate of any I have ever used. It is easy to clean, and cooks accurately. Even my smallest pots can be used on the largest burners, which is not expected. My previous induction burners were so particular that if the post was slightly off center the burner would alarm and turn off. Not this jewel. It recognizes all of my pots and pans no matter what their size, and the temperature I set it on to cook is perfect. This cooktop would be 5 stars if not for the aluminum wiring it comes with. Reminder though, it does have little copper tips applied to the ends of the aluminum wiring that should not be removed! After 7 months of use, I am still thrilled with this stovetop! Everyone that visits oohs and awwws over it. The pan I’m using always heats up quickly, and although the burner shows “H” for hot when I turn it off, it’s never been hot enough to burn me. I’m sold on induction! ... show more

  • A great replacement for my old gas cooktop
I bought this to replace my old 4 burner gas cooktop. I am very impressed with this product. It arrived in good time and was very well packaged to prevent any shipping damage to the glass top. It was very easy to 8nstall, as I did already have the correct 220 volt 40 amp wiring already in place, and it fit well into the existing opening in my counter. It is very easy to use, and heats a lot faster than gas, especially if you use the "P" power boost setting, which gives 25% over the maximum setting for two minutes to heat faster, say for boiling a large pot of water. Most of my old pots and pans work just fine, but a few that were aluminum or thin stainless steel were not compatible with induction. The 9 levels of power give very exact control over heating temperature. The only feature this unit does not have that I would have liked is that you can't set an exact temperature in degrees, only the 9 levels. Some induction cooktops do have this feature. This cooktop cost 1/5 as much as any I could buy locally at an appliance store, but seems to be very good quality. I'll see how long it lasts, but I am very pleased so far. It is so much easier to clean than my old gas cooktopust a quick spray with kitchen cleaner and a quick wipe, and it looks like new again. ... show more
