Very well packaged, and the locking mechanism is solid. I'm around 260 pounds and felt like it could hold me no problem. Have used these several times in garage and basement roof spaces and found them to top quality. The steps themselves are surprisingly light weight but feel very solid, despite being light. As you can see from the pictures, we immediately put this step stool to hard use. Standing on it and scraping popcorn ceilings. Held up like a champ. So, I can definitely say that it can hold up to 210 lbs on the third step while vigorously scraping a popcorn ceiling for hours! The steps are good sizes and feel safe standing in them.
