First, the bad, which was truly awful: This thing STINKS. Even wrapped in multiple layers of plastic, I could smell it upon opening the box. I moved it outside as soon as I smelled it so it could air out. I had to wash my hands immediately after touching it, even though it was still wrapped in plastic! Then, I thought I could still smell it, and I realized the scent had permeated the box, requiring its immediate removal. I am not exaggerating--think of it as the smell of a tire store X 20--it was that intense. That drawback required some airing out, but in the end it did not detract from the function. Just be prepared to give it some time before handling it--or maybe double-glove up. This aeration hose is a great upgrade for any pond or lake setup. The self-sinking design works exactly as advertised, laying flat on the bottom without needing extra weights, which makes installation much easier and keeps everything neat and out of the way. The tubing is very heavy! The tubing feels thick and durable, built to handle long-term use in water without kinking or floating up. Given the black color, this could also be used in a hydroponics system to discourage algae growth, but if it is lying in the sun, I'm sure it will heat the water up past the point where you would want it for your plants. The included stainless steel clamps and copper menders are a nice bonus and make setup straightforward. Everything fits together securely, and it’s easy to customize the length or make connections as needed. Once installed, the hose delivers consistent airflow and helps improve circulation, which is exactly what you want for maintaining water quality. There is so much weight on these that they broke through the box during shipping. Just the weight alone make this one stand out. It has a thick rubbery inner liner that you can see in the photo that's what gives it a good sinking weight. It's rather stiff when you first unpack it but it's flexibility will come back after sitting in the sun. Stretch the tube out in the sun for a few hours to warm up then stretch straight to get rid of the curling effect from packaging. It comes with some great high quality brass connectors and stainless steel clamps. I'm happy with it and you will be too! Good luck with your project! Pro tip: Instead of using the provided clamps, I recommend using pex crimp rings. For underwater application, I like to use the copper pex crimp rings instead of the stainless steel ones. I have seen the stainless steel ones rust. The copper will last way longer. Note: the description says - "Comes with 4 premium copper menders" but I believe these are brass.

I have used this 3/8 inch Self-Sinking Aeration Hose/Heavy-Duty Weighted Pond Tubing with 8 Stainless Steel Clamps for part of the irrigation system in the Hi-tunnel/Greenhouse. I ordered 100 feet of the hose so that there was plenty of tubing to keep the deeper rooted veggies moist and watered. It is very flexible, is extremely durable and a great value for the money. It works great and is a slow leak system. I cannot wait to see the results in a few months when the carrots and other root veg come in. :O) I would recommend this to anyone as there are so many other uses for this hose. I would put it all down in here but all one has to do is read the information that is advertised with this product. It is a versatile product. You will like it.
