Bought the palram opener figuring it would work best with the same brand greenhouse. Worked for a day, then it froze up. Tried to snap it out of place, ended up busting open spraying hot wax all over my eye. Decided to go with this one since it was half the price and highly rated. Not only has it worked flawlessly, but I like that if I ever have issues I can JUST replace the cylinder. Also if I ever need to test the cylinder to verify it's still retracting I can stick a cold bottle of water over it.

For me, the enclosed directions on the instruction sheet were a bit confusing and I wish I had a third hand while working over my head to attach these to the window frames. Once installed though, they work like magic! I’m pleased with the value for the money and how efficiently these work.

This vent opener works. However the instructions are awful so read reviews and look at review photos to help. The first thing is that nowhere in the instructions does it explain to thread the rod into the round swivel nut. It’s seems obvious because of the threading but is not in instruction and hard to do. If you think it will never thread, just keep trying. Eventually you’ll get it. Another thing is that it is unlikely to fit perfectly so you will probably need to cut a piece and add in some wood to adjust the space to secure correctly. Lastly, it may be harder to install with the opener in an open position as it will be when you put it together. If you want it closed before you install, just put it in the freezer for a bit and it will close up.

I added this to our greenhouse kit at the start based on others' reviews. It opens when the temperature inside goes up and closes when the temperature goes down. It was simple to install and is adjustable. I did find a video online that further helped explain installation. I would definitely recommend.

This is a two piece vent opener kit. There are two black based actuators that are described as opening to the max extension at 86 degrees. I set them in the green house to install but noticed they did not extend though it was over 90 degrees. To test I took them to the house and immersed them in a tall glass at 86 degrees for 10 minutes. No action at all! I raised the temperature to 111, waited ten minutes and the extension arms measured the same 4 inches as before the test! What I did not tell you is that I had bought two extension arms previously of the same manufacture and put them in the cup to test along with the others and got the exact same results with all four of the extenders; not even a quarter inch of response to the heat. I am sorry but absolutely no activation at 111 degrees means you can count on getting defrauded if you buy these! The good news is Amazon made it right and covered me!

I sure didn't understand how it work, and I probably still don't, but work it does! When it gets hot in the greenhouse, the arm extends and the roof hatch is opened to allow more air into the greenhouse. I thought that I would have to have electricity to get this kind of functionality, but nope, it works all by itself based on temperature. It was not really a joy to get it installed, but they included enough extra hardware so that I was able to pull it off. However, your mileage may vary!

Worked well for 6 months, and then the wax leaked out of the opener and they stopped working entirely. I will be purchasing another brand to replace these.
