I got a pair of these to use for various exercises. Here are some thoughts after usage: - Very quick and easy way to adjust the necessary weight. - You can only select how much weight when the dumbbells are properly seated in the tray, which is good for safety so you can't accidentally lose a plate while exercising - Overall they feel pretty well built, but time will tell how the plastic exterior will hold up because weights can quickly become beat up during exercises - They are larger than a dumbbell of equal weight, but the trade off is that this set costs a lot less than individually buying dumbells and it takes up less space overall. The biggest thing to be aware of is the physical size. Being larger than a regular dumbbell could potentially make certain exercises or positions a bit more awkward, but most routines probably won't be affect. Definitely a great value compared to dedicated dumbbells

This dumbbell is very convenient for most of the dumbbell work that I do in my workouts. Ideally this would be a set of 2, but I got a single set to try it out. It honestly looks quite complicated but in practice is so simple to use. To adjust the weight, you rotate the handle while the dumbbell is docked in its tray. There's nothing special about the tray other than the shape to hold the weights not in use. When you rotate the handle, the number on top is the weight in pounds of the current selection. This helps replace a set of dumbbells that I was stacking plates onto and using clamps to secure them. It's a lot of work with those, although those sets are more affordable than this one. The individual plates have a C shape to them. The smallest plates are fairly lightweight and don't contain much to them. The base weight of the handle is 3lbs, and the next weight up is 5.5, so that's 2.5lbs for the pair of small plates which makes them 1.25lbs each. This is the only plate that feels like mostly plastic/air - it would have been nice if this could have been made thinner so the dumbbell is less bulky, but it probably would make the mechanism more difficult to build. The other plates actually feel solid, and heavy. Each plate is coated with a plastic like coat. The nature of this adjustable system means there is a lot of space used to separate the plates, and have a carve out for the weight selection mechanism. It looks a lot heavier due to this bulk than it is. The handle has a nice amount of grip to it, and feels natural to use. When you lift with the weights there is a small noise as the weights can slightly shift around, but they feel sturdy. 28lbs is a good amount of weight for many exercises for most people. It's not going to be enough for bench presses for most, but overhead presses, curls, tricep work, and on the lighter side, rehab work makes this ideal. They are on the pricier side when you consider the raw weights that you get, but compared to other brands that offer the same, these are an affordable option. You also need to consider that they replace a large set of dumbbells that combined would be several times more expensive, or manual adjustable dumbbells with plates that are cumbersome and annoying to change out during a workout. All that considered I think these are a good value, and I wish I would have gotten a product like this sooner.

I was nervous about the functionality of this set for some reason but it really is a great adjustable dumbell! I'll get the negative out of the way and that's the fact its a single and not am actual set of two adjustable dumbells. I know alot can be done with a single weight but it just bugs me and is the one aspect that would make this flawless as alot of my arm workouts require two dumbells, one for each hand. I wish I could rate this a 4.5 out of 5 for that. Of course you can just purchase,too but would be nicer as a set for price reasons. I'd rather give it 5 than 4 if I had to choose so guess that's good for the company that there isn't the half option but just keep that in mind. However there are many positives and overall I'm super impressed and like this alot. It arrived in great condition- well packaged and secured and looking great. The concept is genius. It's space saving, convenient, and versatile. The value for the money is still there because just a set of 10 lb weights cost me around $20. So getting a large variety of sizes with this makes it a great deal compared to what I'd pay for all of these individually. The fact I can choose which weight I want to work out with while only having ONE is just so cool- I don't need tons of dumbells lying around. What's crazy is the way this works- if it's on the stand you turn the weight to select the pounds you want and then you lift it up and will have the amount you wanted. Hard to explain in text, but I recorded a video to show exactly how it works. I was fascinated by it!! It's just a little twist and you're set, no organizing and setting up the weights yourself it's all done for you and just feels like such a smooth process. It's really no fuss at all like I expected and it actually also makes it fun to use. The tray it's on is functional as well as stable and durable. Same with the weights-high quality and durable. I'm impressed overall and have loved adding it to my area of home workout equipment. It's an innovative and impressive product!

This adjustable dumbbell has been a great addition to our home gym. My only complaint is that I bought just one instead of getting a pair! Our whole family uses it, and the adjustable design makes it incredibly convenient since everyone can quickly select a weight that works for them. This model goes up to 28 pounds, which has actually been perfect for our needs. My younger kids enjoy doing light-weight exercises with it, while my wife and I can increase the weight for more intermediate workouts. This is a good dumbbell set for me because I live in an apartment so getting a full rack of dumbbells isn’t going to be able to fit when space is scarce. The weights feel like they’re plastic plates I don’t think they’re metal but the whole thing doesn’t feel flimsy at all. I find turning it to the right setting isn’t difficult and it is quick to change the weight for different workouts and different motions. They can slide underneath a desk or just tuck into a corner of the room and the dumbbell doesn’t roll off because of the stand. You also need to have the stand in order to change the weight so plates can’t just twist and fall off. The fact that it is an adjustable set does mean there are some limitations to the dumbbells. They’re a lot wider than the iron dumbbells because it’s accounting for so many plates and that’s going to matter if some exercises have the weights up against my waist. But overall I really like them. They save space and when I pick a weight it’s nice that two sides of my hand have matching plates so it’s evenly distributed. While it’s not going to replace an entire gym setup this is all kept under one cubic feet of space in your home.

TL;DR: Excellent adjustable dumbbell for quick strength training and rehab at home without cluttering the room with multiple weights. Switching weight levels is quick and smooth. I ordered this adjustable dumbbell because I broke my arm a few years ago and it's still significantly weaker than my other side. I wanted to start rebuilding my strength, but buying and storing a whole rack of individual dumbbells is way too expensive and takes up too much room. I keep this right next to my desk, and whenever I'm on a work meeting with my camera off, I pick it up to get in a few quick reps. The versatility is great because it lets me start light on my recovering arm and easily change the load as needed. Swapping out the weight plates is super simple and fast, I don't have to fiddle around with loose collars or separate plates. The overall build quality feels solid, and the mechanism hasn't jammed on me during daily use. In summary, it has exceeded my expectations for convenience and value, especially for rebuilding arm strength in a home office setup without creating a mess of equipment.
