I'm in the process of remodeling my basement. I was going to drywall the ceiling and put the lighting in but then I saw these and decided to paint the joists and under flooring all black and put these in to give a commercial look. I painted them black and installed them and they work great while saving me time and money from having to finish the ceiling. They came well packaged and also came with screws for mounting the plates. I like that you can slide the plates to where ever you need them along the long mounting slots. The center pieces are not twist out like I would have assumed so you need to cut the connecting sections of metal out to remove the sized section you need. The plates seemed a bit flimsy at first but once you have them in position and screwed down, it's not an issue at all. If you're looking to save some money or if you have an open ceiling design this is a great way to install new lighting. I would use these again and would recommend.

I got these for my bathroom and the installation was easy before drywalling. This is a must for recessed lighting. Functions well with my GC products. The precut holes made it even easier to use for different sizes.

this mounting plate set has been really useful for installing recessed lights. the plates feel sturdy and fit a range of light sizes, so it’s nice to have that flexibility. they’ve definitely made the process quicker and more organized than trying to work without them. the only drawback is that some of the edges feel a little sharp, so you have to be careful handling them. other than that, they’ve worked well and seem like they’ll hold up over time.

These are the perfect choice for new builds as they allow you to installed your lighting and get an idea how everything will look prior to completing the drywall. As far as the mounting plates go, the box was heavier than I anticipated, which is a good thing. The plates were sturdy and well made, overall I think they are a good value pack. These things are a must if you're doing new construction residential and plan on installing recessed lighting! Theyre very versatile, being 24 inches one size fits all, you can use it with a 24" span or 16" span, also they have precut holes for both 6" and 4" recessed lighting. It makes the recessed lighting so much more stable and just all around better.

Our local building department requires all fixtures (luminaires} to be supported by building structure, regardless of weight or design. They do not consider sheetrock to be "structure", primarily due degradation from exposure to water. They don't want fixtures falling out of ceilings onto firefighters. That being said, until the advent of ultra-light LED fixtures, it has been common to use various types of brackets for installing recessed "can" lighting, but these brackets don't work for the aforementioned LEDs. This 24 Pack New Construction Mounting Plate is the answer to that, as well as a host of other applications. The brackets are well-made and quite heavy enough for fairly heavy applications. Time saved in installation easily pays for them. The centering notches on each of 4 sides makes lining up with a string or laser line easy. Also, from an installation standpoint, it's faster to install these and wiring prior to sheetrock than to cut them in later. I'll be removing and replacing sheetrock and using these brackets rather than fishing cables and cutting-in fixtures in my lighting remodel project.
