I’m always looking to add security cameras to my property. I saw this system and thought I’d give it a try. It proved to be a very capable Network Video Recorder along with four cameras. However, that said, it can be somewhat tricky to set up. I’ve read prior reviews and most of them are due to improper operation. I say most, not all, but most… After I finished my setup and configuration mine worked like a charm. At first, I thought it was a CamCamp NVR, but the label on the unit said it was a ToGuard… just an FYI. I found that once the drive was installed, and the NVR & Cameras were powered up, they found each other fast. Altering from the factory settings is where things became a bit dicey. The recorder does come with four (4) cameras, however, I only photoed one. I contacted tech support and they were prompt and very helpful. Again, my only issues stemmed from configuration errors. To be fair, the setup screens are not super intuitive, they're workable and accurate, but definitely not intuitive. You will need to install a hard drive (HDD) as it does not come with one, I’m sure this is the main reason the price is so reasonable. Adding a hard drive? No problem, however to some folks that just might be a bridge too far to cross. This is a pretty decent wireless surveillance system for the money. This particular unit did NOT have a hard drive so that had to be added. There was plenty of room to add a full size drive or any size. Once added I had to format the drive in system settings and it was ready to go. The controls are the same as other surveillance systems I have used. It is a familiar Linux based operating system that can be used with a mouse that is also included. The cameras connect to the recorder automatically and switch to night mode automatically. Day mode at night is equally as good and works well. Playback is easy to pull up and automatically records avi format. The signal strength between the cameras seems to be good for my setup going through several walls. Overall a good system for the money with the ability to add cameras in the future. ... show more
