I love the app, it gives me such amazing information and insights health-wise. I was not expecting any of that! All of the information of learned from the family history side of things has been incredible, but for me, the most value I’ve seen in it has been the health insights. The app goes into great detail on these insights and gives you tons of links and ways of learning more about the things you just discovered. Everything just works great together. Given your genetic make-up, the app highlights how your body will react to certain things like medication or allergens. Too expensive & did not reveal all the DNA results. Thought over 10k ancestral tree was built by my father while in retirement over several years, I had to start from scratch & have to pay additional fees for clues/hints or connect w/distant family.

Good product. Easy to use. Instructions come with the box. I think it was worth the price, though you may want to wait for one of the many sales before buying if you want to save some money. Depending on your situation, you may or may not find what you are looking for. To find family members, other relatives just have put in their DNA. For women, if you want the paternal haplogroup, unfortunately your biological male relatives (preferably your dad) are needed since we don’t have the y-chromosome. Aside from things outside of the websites control, I liked this product and would recommend. Note that if you order at popular times, a backlog in the lab can mean it will take longer than advertised for your DNA to process. ... show more

I returned this because I read about the security breach with this company, and I did not feel comfortable using it. Also, it has been several weeks and I still do not have a refund, this company is extremely slow.

    • Underwhelming
23andMe seems to be marketing mastery. All of the hype surrounding this and the website is just marketing at its best. I felt like I was going to get so much more than I really got, which felt more like children's science. It felt like a promise of science and data, but you get very generic and underwhelming answers. AS my wife stated, "Overpromised and underdelivered." That's not to say they did not deliver. If you really look at their website and the photos it probably is telling you exactly what you'll get, but the words and fancy fireworks say otherwise. You should expect a lot of "maybe, 50%, 50/50, probably, typical" in the answers. There won't be concrete. It won't be data that is great for data analysis. It's words and descriptors. As an example, I'm likely light haired and I have the darkest hair imaginable. That doesn't mean it's wrong, but that's going to be quite a bit of what you'll receive. It feels like fortune telling. The testing was easy enough. Setting up with the website was easy. Tracking it while it was en route was a bit rough (they only check it in when scanned in the lab -- make sure you save a tracking number!). This test, overall, was fun and the anticipation was exciting, but the end result was a dud. The cost for this dud is probably to pay for all of the marketing to make you think this is going to be some scientific journey. Admittedly, it did match up with some of my relatives, but my intent for this test had nothing to do with my ancestry or finding relatives. Some of their tools are fun, but you should BEWARE, that there are no matches outside of North America (not that I currently see) and I definitely have relatives outside of America. So, make sure you're buying this for the fun. You can find long lost relatives -- assuming they're also in the database and have taken the test. So, if that's your goal, then this may be useful, but you probably do not need the most expensive test. You can just do the basic one. Good luck in your journey. ... show more
