This rolling lawn aerator has a decent amount of weight to it and arrived mostly assembled. The only setup required was connecting the long handle sections and attaching it to the roller. The handle is longer than I expected, which is nice, and the sections connect using spring locking pins. One handle section would not stay connected properly. I am very familiar with this type of connector and it was not user error. After reorganizing the handle sections, I found that one specific section has a pin and hole that are slightly misaligned, which prevents the pin from fully locking in that position. Omitting that section or rearranging the order solved the issue, but it took longer than it should have to figure out and was frustrating for a new product. Once assembled correctly, it does seem to aerate the lawn as intended. That said, this thing is essentially a weapon if you are not careful. The exposed spikes are no joke. For storage, I disconnect the roller and keep it boxed to avoid any chance of my kids getting hurt. I really wish it included some sort of guard or protective cover for safer use and storage.

Not as I was hoping but it is what it is supposed to be. If you have a nice soft lawn then it works great, if you’re ground is hard , good luck! Its fairly easy to put together and is fairly solid and all but it needs more weight added which it can be filled with whatever in the barrel part on the bottom but then it’s really heavy of course but still not enough to go down into hard clay soil so take note. If lawn is perfect then it’s good. I didn’t find it a great value as i was hoping it would help loosen up my soil but it doesn’t sink and if I filled it with lead or something heavier then it would be a pain to use. Too bad…

Overall, I am happy to recommend this rolling lawn aerator. It’s pretty easy to assemble, even though they provide you the skinny/flat wrenches (which totally work, and I actually use them instead of going out into the garage to use fancier tools). Perhaps the hardest part of putting it together is dealing with the awkward handle length and the spikes from the aerating nails poking everywhere. It’s fairly heavy without adding additional weight in it. Pro tip: keep the foam in the bottom of the box so it’s easier to store safely. As long as you can apply a fair amount of body weight downward on this while also applying the necessary, horizontal force to get it rolling and keep it rolling, this will work for you. This is also not for the faint of heart: it’s a heck of a workout, even if you have a relatively soft soil/lawn. For a trick your spots, you’ll want to apply more weight and go back-and-forth over it a few times. So if you’re just trying to avoid paying someone to aerate or renting an aerator/attachment, know that you need to be sufficiently fit and have the time and patience to make this work for your larger lawn. And my larger I mean you won’t want to be doing more than a 10th of an acre at a time unless you’re a professional athlete. That said, it works well. It won’t be getting large plugs out, but it’s better than nothing and lets you keep your DIY title and some additional hard earned cash.

Pretty easy to assemble, though pouring some rocks into the roller took some clever balancing so as not to be stabbed by the spikes. Yeah, they are sharp! The supplied wrenches are a good idea, but you really need to use your own wrench to speed the process up. And the bar assembly requires two 12mm wrenches and only one is supplied. Once done, the aerator works well, though you will work up a real sweat pushing it around. Pick your day or get someone young and strong to do the work.
