I ordered this insert to use in my DIY faux fireplace project. It fit perfectly!!! The heater works amazing, and gets extremely hot within seconds. The heater is a little loud when on, but nothing too distracting. I love the remote control feature because I don’t have to get up and press the buttons to change settings. The media could not be loaded. We bought the whiteish gray logs style, even though another reviewer advised against this color. We love the look of the logs! I really wanted something to go into our fireplace mainly for the ambiance, and not necessarily the heat or sound. This was an affordable price, so we crossed our fingers and hoped it would give us the "feel" that we wanted. I was not disappointed! I love how it looks in our fireplace, and even the amount of heat it emits since we did have a few colder evenings. It's very relaxing, and soothing. The remote works great, and I like the dimmers for the lights to give different levels of "fire". I REALLY like the control of the flame speed, as a previous free-standing faux fireplace we had didn't have this feature, and I hated the frenetic flames that made me dizzy when I looked at them. The only reason I didn't give this five stars is because it doesn't have a volume control for the sound, and that seems like such a big oversight. I would love to listen to the crackling fire sound, but it's too loud, which also makes it unrealistic sounding. At least it has a control to shut off sound. I think this fireplace is very nice for a lower end faux fireplace, and I highly recommend it. ... show more

It is beautiful and fits perfectly into our fireplace in the dinning room. I really like the three options of heat or no heat and the flame looks very realistic. So far the quality of the product is amazing. Would definitely recommend.

Next best thing to a real fire place ... the only issue with this unit are the white aspen logs .. When not in use they are totally white and look very fake .. I had to do a little art work to tone them down and really make them look a bit more authentic .. They have a couple of other models you can choose from depending on your preference... The handy remote is really a plus to regulate the flame, brightness and heat .. I noticed that in order to achieve a more realistic back ground flame you need a reflective back ground to enhance it .. The flame is projected by a rotating mechanize lighting in the back of the unit .. A more reflective back ground enchances the flame effect .. The heat output is not bad and has different settings as well .. You also have the option to use the flame lighting without heat .. We liked it ... ... show more

Works fine but flame is meh....the white birch was recommended as it w9uld go best in my MCM home but Im thinking of putting a stain over them as they look so fake. I may update this review with photos later.
