  • Works great with Bmg extruder on Ender 3
Got this to use with a Trianglelab BMG clone on an Ender 3. The BMG has a 3:1 gear ratio, so doesn't need as much torque as the stock extruder. This pancake stepper is much lighter than the stock one, and has easily enough power to drive the BMG, and runs cool. Also, the reversed power on this matches the power on the BMG, so no need to swap wires or reverse it in firmware. Fast delivery, has everything you need. Very happy. EDIT - three months later, just got a second one for my second printer. Again, super fast delivery, insanely good value. My first one is still going strong (I've since converted that printer to direct drive, so the lighter weight is a win), hasn't missed a step, runs cool. • Review after using it 30 days
Never write reviews - but - thought it would be helpful to others on this one. I have had this CNC about a month and carved at least 20 signs that are 12"x18" and some trays for Christmas presents. When I purchased it I thought the little 75W motor would probably not be sufficient, so I also purchased the upgrade 500Watt motor. That was somewhat a correct decision. The 75W motor would probably be okay for engraving, light duty, not any deep carving. It would never do anything heavy duty. The 500W motor was okay. It carved the small signs okay with a 1/8" bit. I was slow, but got the job done. As soon as I tried a 1/4" bit carving a food serving tray, It was not enough. It would have taken 18 hours to carve slow enough for the motor to handle it. Tried carving faster - burned the motor up on the second tray. The short story is this - go ahead and spend the extra $90 bucks and get the upgraded 800 watt motor. It is a game changer. So far everything else on the CNC was worked as it should. I had to tighten the Z axis mechanism as it became loose. It is worrisome that it doesn't appear there is a way to tighten it more if it happens again... We'll see. But all in all - I would say the 75W motor that comes with the CNC is worthless unless you would be simply doing very very light duty engraving. Hope this helps... ... show more

  • Possibilities are endless
The media could not be loaded. This is our first experience with a CNC machine. I will say the assembly was intimidating with so many pieces to assemble. However the instructions were very easy to follow. This took several hours to put together. We are on a large learning curve but are excited with trying simple designs and projects to continue practicing. Engraving seems fast and we have not noticed the motor heating up at all. The unit is stable and doesn't move around while working. The actual engraving area is large and accommodates up to 18×18 inches. We are continuing to practice and are excited with all the new possibilities! ... show more

  • Well built and precise.
The only issue is that the controller gets stuck in the end positions AKA "hard limit". The firmware must be updated by bringing back the position by an increment to release the end position microswitch/s.

  • The software is the issue
Cnc is great maybe a little under powered. Biggest expense and problem is software. You either have to pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars for the software. The software included with the CNC is free but very limited.

  • Solid and easy
This is a far more solid machine than I was expecting for the price. The design is well thought out. It was very easy to assemble , though step 18 of the instructions missed some details. The standard spindle feels a little light weight for some of the tasks I have in mind. I will almost certainly be upgrading the spindle and adding the laser unit in the very near future. I picked this up on sale and, so far, it's been more than I hoped for. ... show more

  • Terrible tech support
update on my product. I dongraded to a 2 star becuse of Tech support. I bought a 20w laser to adapt to the spindle so I could both router and laser cut. Two Trees offers a laser to attacth to this and has instructions on setting it up. There is a connecter on the controller board for this. The install was good and I seamed to be off a running untill I tryed to use the laser with Vcarve laser module. The laser would not turn on becuse the controller board would not recognize the GRBL M4 code. I finaly found that TTC450 Model requires a firmware update to Laser. I did that and the laser started working. All seamed well untill i tried to cut a profile on the router and when it hits the first curve i get a Error33 and eveything locks up. When i email tech support about it they told me i didnt need to update the firmware and all i need to do is switch the controller to laser mode. I explained to them that is for the Pro model and the model i have dosnt have that option and your web site says to upload firmware. They returned by saying Oh i didnt know you had that model (even though i told them that up front) and then they said have a good day and didnt reccomend any advice. ... show more

  • HOT!
This is a nice little stepper mother and although I have double checked the voltage and amperage going to this motor to make sure it's not exceeding its capacity, this motor still gets very hot. I am running it as an extruder motor on a 3d printer (so the load on the motor is not very high) at 800ma and after about an hour of use, this motor is too hot to touch. Otherwise, the steps are accurate and it works well. The included wire harness included was perfect and worked well, though a little on the long side and required a trim. I didn't have any need for the additional hardware such as the brakes and machine screws, but it was a nice inclusion for the price. For the price and convenience, it's fine, but in hind sight, I should have just paid a little more and bought an LDO and waited a little longer for shipping. ... show more
