Start your activation by signing in with your Microsoft Hotmail account(Create a Hotmail account if you don't have one yet, other email account won't work) > 3. Click "Activate Office" > 4. The laptop was mostly as described. However, there were 2 points in which it was not. 1) The description said it would come with Windows 10 in S Mode. It was not, but that is a good thing, in my opinion. It saved me the trouble of switching out of S Mode. 2) The description (and the label on the original HP box) said there would be a year of Office 365 included. I found no code to activate such a subscription. There were some instructions in the Amazon product description for activating this that made no sense at all. Per the labels on the box, this PC was originally shipped to WalMart. My theory is that this was an overstock (unsold) item, and that the memory and the SSD were apparently upgraded by another party. It was then sold by Amazing Warehouse Deal through Amazon. For me, this PC was at the sweet spot of features vs. price. However, further research has shown me that I could have gotten a deal as good, if not better, on a custom configured laptop directly from HP. I don't know what the lead time might have been on a custom order from HP, though. This order arrived promptly. While a bit frustrating, the missing Office 365 license is not a big deal to me. I am a long-time user of Libre Office and can use the free online version of Microsoft Office whenever I want to. Generally, I like this laptop. The display is very good. The keyboard is good, but not as good as the Lenovo that I bought for my wife. This model does not have the lighted keys, which is a shame because the lettering is grey on a silver background - not good in low light. I later found that it would only cost $30 more for a backlit keyboard if I custom ordered through HP. While it may not be a speed demon, it seems fast enough for the things I have done with it so far. Battery life is good. ... show more

Could not locate the version of Office 365. The product details says Office is a feature of the laptop. Experienced a technical issue with a Windows update. HP support was helpful to assist with resolving the issue. It was then that I learned by contacting Microsoft that this purchase does not include Office 365. I would have been better off ordering directly from HP, the customer service would have been better or not even needed. Instructions said I needed to switch from Windows S to Windows Home but it was already done. Next, the Microsoft 365 installation instructions were wrong (hotmail email address required? really? so out of date) and so was the youtube video link they sent me to try to activate the "pre-installed" one year free Microsoft 365. Never got the "Activate Office" to show up. I just spent 3 hours with Microsoft Customer Service and it finally has been installed on the computer. I had to use an IT tech guy to help. Overall. the laptop is good, the keys on the keyboard are hard to see as the ink is dark gray on silver keys, not backlit. If you are a touch typist, this won't be a problem for you. Plenty of RAM, screen is nice. I used all my reward points and gift cards so I only spent $350 instead of $600. Next time, it's a direct purchase from HP. ... show more

I love the speed only because my last laptop was from 2013. I have a tough time seeing the white letters on the keyboard I was spoiled by my dark keyboard with white lettering. I like the size and speed.

The laptop itself works good and it was delivered on time. BUT, it didnt come with Office 365 installed and ready to be activated as indicated in the description. I had to go over Amazon, HP and finally Microsoft support to solve this. More than a week calling, texting, sending e-mails, etc. Amazon sent me to HP. HP sent me to Microsoft. Microsoft was the one solving the issue at the end (they had to install it, since it wasn't). Too much patience to be honest. Wasn't expecting to dedicate so many hours on this. I received the package damaged (looked like someone dropped the box from a 2 story building on the corner) and should have returned it, but the product seemed fine. It booted up, but the power cord seemed loose, although it charged. Plus, the plastic corner of the computer was popped out, so I popped it back. Lasted 2 months.....now it won't charge or turn on.
