Excellent emergency radio. The 18650 Li-Ion replaceable batteries was a key feature for me. This unit came with 2 fresh ones that I will be able to test, replace or recharge when needed. This pack gives a significant amount of power (4000mAh compared to the 600mAh of the Kaito 500 for example ). The batteries came 75% charged and the unit started solar charging right out of the box just with the ambient light. All features are functioning as expected. The unit is compact and feels solid. Solar and crank are great additions that feel reassuring in case you would be exposed to very long term outages and, of course, they’ll always be better than nothing. Nevertheless, don’t have to high expectations with the integrated solar panel.(And i still think it’s a great feature to have) These small integrated solar panels on all this type of radios (or power banks) have limited capabilities even in the best conditions . You should not count on the solar panel to recharge your unit 100% and whatever amount of charge you’ll manage to capture will take a long time .The realistic way to recharge this type of units via solar is with an external panel.The removable batteries option is a big plus since you can replace them, but also test and charge them in a separate charger. Cranking is a good extra way of charging for extreme situations (depleted batteries, no spare, no extra power bank, zero sun). Otherwise this unit can be charged via usb and wall outlet or power bank or (after removing the batteries) with a charger compatible with 18650, for maintenance or when preparing for a coming weather event. In the front, there are 4 blue leds for state of charge indicator (25/50/75/100%), a red led for charging indicator and a green one when the radio tuning is good. I’ve tested charging phone, iPad and iPod, all good. The sound is loud and crisp. Excellent AM/FM/WB reception (Urban area). The lights (Flash and reading) are super bright. The motion sensor feature on the reading light is genius. The sos alarm seems unnecessary but it’s very loud and works. The iPad/iPhone adapter is a very clever addition. I don’t see how you could be completely out of power (ever) with this unit. On the whole an excellent unit for this price, I recommend. ... show more

This radio is 100% worth it. It is small and compact in an emergency, easy to carry with you. The light on it is almost blinding if you look into it with several settings for lower light. This is a nice gadget to keep for emergency situations. The radio and flash light work well. As others mentioned, it doesn't seem to charge fully, only to 75 %. I'm also not sure that the solar panel charges but the manual handle charges effeciently. I hope to never need it but this is a useful gadget to keep just i case. ... show more

Haven't messed with it until tonight..haven't re-charged..It powered my tablet up to 26% in 15 min.! All features work as described..Noaa switch automatically turns to local weather and info..Flashlights and reading lights are bright!! This little solar source radio is great. In case of an emergency this is a nice little gadget to have. It’s not very big, which is great. You could hang it onto your purse or backpack. It powers up by the sun or the cranking system, when there is a power outage Will be a much needed item to have handy. it has a USB plug in a type C plug built-in. It also came with the USB cord with a regular android charging tip and it came with a spare apple charging tip. Which was a nice surprise for me. I did not know that was included when you flip up the solar panel, it’s a light about an inch by 3 1/2 to 4 inches long, which is pretty bright. It also has a flashlight, light on the side.
