I'm not a fan of the price of Macbooks but if you can get past that, this truly is a great laptop. It's very fast and powerful. This is my main work computer, and I run lots of software throughout the day, such as Word and Excel, but also several browser windows with many tabs open, Slack, and Zoom with no problems at all. I also do video editing (Da Vinci Resolve) while everything else is running and still no loading issues. This is my first Mac with an M chip and I was worried I might run into software compatibility issues but I was able to transfer everything from my Intel-based Macbook to this one seamlessly. This has three USB-C ports and each one is capable of charging the computer or connecting to an external monitor, which is great. But this also has a proprietary charging port if you need an extra USB-C port and it has an HDMI port if you want to use that for a monitor. The charging cable also connects magnetically, which is nice because it'll pop right off if you accidentally trip over the wire. There's also an SD port, which is awesome for me since I do a lot of photo and video editing work. It's so much easier to pull the SD card out of my camera and download media to the computer or to another hard drive. I ordered the 16" model after using a 14" model for years and it took me a while to get used to it. This computer is much larger and felt way oversized for several weeks but I eventually got used to it. I still miss my old 14" laptop for portability though because it was smaller and much lighter. I still haven't taken this computer out with me because it's big and I'd rather just leave it at home. But the benefits of a larger screen is a huge plus. On the smaller Mac, I couldn't split screen and work out of two windows. The 16" model makes split screen possible, so I don't always need an external monitor. I'm far more productive with this screen. Another drawback of the size is the large hand rest area. I have to reach much further to reach the keys and my wrists rest on the edge of the laptop, which is a little uncomfortable. I wouldn't say one size is better than the other, just that each one has its benefits. The screen is huge. I have another 15.5" PC laptop and the screen on this Mac feels so much larger, because the bezel on the edges is very thin. Very little space is wasted here. The speakers are great and that's one thing I've always loved about Macbooks over PC laptops (or at least the ones I've owned). I have three other Windows machines and the speakers are terrible and sound tinny. But the audio on this Macbook feels like you're surrounded by the sound and everything sounds crisp and clear. You can hear the bass. The camera is pretty good, and much better than previous models (such as the 2019 model I previously used). It's not amazing and you'lll probably still want to use an external camera for higher quality video calls, but this camera is still surprisingly good. Late 2021 Apple MacBook Pro with Apple M1 Pro chip (16-inch, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD) Space Gray (Renewed) I am a long time, multi-product Apple user. I've have a few iMacs, iPads, all the phones, watches etc and this is my 2nd MacBook Pro. I previously had a 2017 version of this exact laptop. It saw light usage but after a screen cable "snapped" the screen was unusable and apparently after about 7 years, Apple considers it "Vintage" and said that in the next year or so, they wouldn't even service it. It wouldn't have been worth repairing, even though it was functioning perfectly fine (minus a black screen). I was hesitant to buy re-furbished, I never have but this was an unexpected purchase and they're expensive, so I went this route. I'm glad that I did. The thing is flawless, I can tell by the speed it is definitely an upgrade to my previous version of basically the same laptop. I don't know about the battery count that everyone comments on but mine also only said "2" when I checked... I'm not sure if that is reset during refurbishing but either way, I can tell it seems like a new laptop. It did come with an off-brand charger and block but I'm not really worried about that. Mine was rated "Excellent" and sold by Loop-Mobile. It says it takes a week to arrive, but they ship with Fed Ex 2 day and I got it in 3 days, only b/c it partially fell on a weekend. I also wanted to add that even though it's no my work horse, I run programs like Adobe Photoshop/Bridge and Lightroom on it, so I went with 16GB of ram. Wouldn't get 8gb, that's not enough. Apple products are expensive, everyone is aware of this. I’ve had my old MacBook Pro (late 2015 model) from the year it launched. This is the reason I decided to go with another MacBook. The MacBook Pro 2021 outshines my old model by an incredible margin with its lightning-fast M1 Pro chip. It's a game-changer for anyone seeking top-notch performance and design that will last years. I didn’t get my hopes up too high regarding the quality that I would receive when I ordered a refurbished product, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. The MacBook that I received was indistinguishable from a brand new product that could be mistaken as factory new. No scuffs, scratches, dents, or faded keys. It even came with +1 year of AppleCare. It was unknown to me at the time that this model of MacBook can be charged with either the MagSafe or a USB Type C cable. The charger that I received did not work out of the box and is a Chinese knockoff (clearly not manufactured well). This was a major concern to me because it wouldn’t charge at first until I used a spare USB-C. I do have concerns regarding if the MagSafe does work (pretty sure that it does given the condition it came in). I will have to either buy a new one or request one from the seller.
