  • Bought this instead of a $1k+ exhaust manifold.
Size: 61.8 Pounds
I have a new hobby. A more expensive and heavy-duty unit, such as a Miller-branded welder, might have yielded better results for someone more experienced, but I'm new to TIG welding, and to my untrained eye, the final results were excellent. The welder produces a nice, stable arc, and it never overheated on me, even during some fairly extensive practice sessions. The cost of this TIG welder was less than the cost of a new Ford OEM catalytic converter, and since I always wanted to own a TIG welder, I sort of feel I got this for free... thanks to Ford, and the experience described below. My 2015 Ford Explorer threw the dreaded P0430 check-engine light code, falsely indicating that the catalytic converter on Bank 2 was operating below efficiency. Most of what I researched said to simply have the converter replaced, but the OEM part is extremely expensive, and most of the aftermarket cats have poor reviews. In my case, I discovered two leaks in the exhaust manifold/catalytic converter. The ingress of unmetered air caused by both an inadequate pre-existing factory weld and a crack that developed in the bank 2 exhaust manifold turned out to be the real cause of the P0430 CIL. Armed with a good excuse justifying the purchase of this welder to my wife, I pulled the trigger and used silicon-bronze to TIG-braze repair the found leaks. I enjoyed researching how to repair cast iron and feel great satisfaction in having successfully mended the leaks and eliminating the P0430 code, which has not returned. ... show more

  • Mint machine
Size: 61.8 Pounds
Pretty sweet machine. First time TIG welding ever. Very happy. Was able to build a cart for it easy enough. Will be even happier when I really figure out how to use its capabilities.

  • Great for the money!
Size: 65.1 Pounds
I bought this in March but have just now gotten around to using it. Packaging was fine. It's well protected in thick styrofoam. I added the the CK 20 torch to mine. The unit seems very well built. The controls are pretty simple and I was able to figure them out easily without referencing the book. So far, I've been using it to TIG weld 16 ga A36 1x1 square tube to 16 ga A36 plate for a project. In theee days I've put probably 8hrs weld time with this machine. So far it's held up nicely, welding around 6 inches at a time. My skills have atrophied since I haven't welded in 6 mos or so, si likely most errors are user related. The machine seems to weld as good as any Lincoln or Miller I've used. It's also a small, light machine which is useful for those if us that don't have a massive shop. The pedal is responsive and firm. I like it. The instructions are set up for someone who has TIG'd before, but are explanatory enough that a newbie could probably figure it out. I don't care for the gas cooled torch. I've been using watercooled torches up until now on the shop machines. I find that with longer welds the torch gets very hot (it can burn me through stick gloves) on longer welds. I'm certain this is the nature of has cooled torches in general. I find my tungsten dulls very quickly by comparison to water cooled torches. Again, probably the nature of the beast. An option to purchase a watercooled torch with this machine would be a great idea. I have an external watercooler I'll eventually use when I but a water cooled torch. I DO NOT like the work clamp. The spring is extremely stiff. So stiff that your average guy like me struggles with it. It doesn't quite open a full inch either, which means if you're using anything bigger than 3/4 inch tubing, you'll have a hard time finding a place to clamp it to your work. I've had to clamp it to my table, which works, but I'd rather clamp it to the work for a better connection. I have not used it in AC yet, but I have an upcoming project for that so I'll add it to the review later. Pay close attention to the instructions for AC. The balance is set up OPPOSITE of Miller machines. So instead of 70 on the Miller machines in the shop, it's 39 on this machine. I don't remember if it's pos or neg right now, just that it's opposite the way I set it up in the shop. Again, that's covered in the instructions. Overall it seems to be a solid machine, especially for less that $1k. UPDATE: the AC works great. However, I am annoyed because I founf out today that the pressure gauge is off by a HUGE amount. I will be contacting the seller, because it has cost me $100 in bottles that I thought were empty (or nearly so) that weren't. I just welded an 8 ft continuous weld on 0 PSI. Been that way for 4 hours. Not pleased about THAT. Update 2: customer was great. Sent a new regulator with no issues. ... show more

  • Highly satisfied with this unit
Size: 61.8 Pounds
This welder is amazing!!!!! This has blown my expectations completely out of the park and for the price it can’t be beaten 😮💨😮💨😮💨 powerful when u need it and low amps when u need it. This welder is very versatile and easy to use, its build quality is all about durability with a sleek design. This welder has a very low noise level I’d say the loudest thing on here is the fan. This welder has the most cutting edge features even HF start for tig which is super helpful when trying to save that tungsten. All in all pretty solid deal , I’m not sponsored or anything payed with my own money and enjoying this welder so much it’s my new baby lol . But seriously you should sponsor me😏🤞🏾 ... show more

  • Better than Miller diversion 180 🥴
Size: 65.1 Pounds
Yes I said it. This is better than the $2000 Miller diversion 180, in my opinion. Mine quit working and I was scrambling to find a replacement, this welder on Amazon has similar specs and can do both ac/dc just like my 180. Now I’m not saying this just because mine died. This welder has much more adjustability and to be honest, seems like the arc is more stabile. Same torch too so that’s weird. My one and only real complaint is the fan runs constantly on this weldpro machine and it’s some what loud. But that’s literally my only complaint so far. It works amazing and my welds are far better with this machine than my diversion 180, which is just insane. Same torch, same cups even. Amazing welder for the money! ... show more

  • Best bang for your buck
Size: 65.1 Pounds
Fantastic welder, purchased 6 years ago and has done stick and tig of all kinds for repairs and fabrication around the farm. Customer support was very helpful about an aftermarket amp control torch switch helping me get it wired up to work with their machine. Not their product or their problem but still got answers quicker than the manufacturer of said switch could and they were happy to help. The included Ck17 flex is a great torch still have it just converted to water cooled to suit my needs. Would recommend ... show more
