    • Blazing fast, crazy quiet. Some quirks to be aware of.
I've been curious about Macs for a long time but always was too afraid to jump in because the cost to value offered by Apple's products was somewhat poor in the past. However, the Mac mini is the first product Apple has released in some time that I find to be a compelling value. The M1 chip is crazy fast and the machine is eerily silent. My last desktop sounded like a fighter jet, but you'd be hard pressed to tell the Mac mini was on, save for the indicator light at the front. There are 2 quirks to the machine that I did not know about at the time of purchase that I'd like to warn others about. First, MacOS is optimized for 4k+ resolutions. On lower resolutions, it scales down and the results are sometimes iffy. Text is sometimes blurry or hard to read (especially small text). Depending on what you'd use it for, you may want to upgrade to a 4k monitor. I'm using a 1440p monitor and still having some issues. For day to day stuff, the computer is still perfectly functional, however. The second quirk is that MacOS natively does not support volume control if you're outputting your sound via your monitor; the volume plays at full blast with the expectation that you'll use your monitor/speaker controls to adjust it. It seems like there are some third-party apps that can serve as a workaround for this. Alternatively, you can connect the Mac mini via its 3.5mm jack to some speakers. If you're really crazy, the Mac Mini does have built in speakers as well (which I was stunned to learn!); they sound quite poor, however. ... show more

I picked it up at Whole Foods so a porch pirate wouldn’t get it. Very easy to do and I’ll do that with higher value items in the future. This M1 mini showed up in new condition and I’m impressed with everything about it. I’ll never need any more computing speed than the M1 offers. I’ve got 16gb ram and 1tb storage. Good times! If you shop around like I did you’ll find this is the best deal out there. At least that was my experience. ... show more

Seemed to work but other than what was transferred over to it from my other computer- it would NOT take any uploads from an external drive or thumb drive. I admit I had a lot of music videos to move over but it took DAYS AND DAYS to think it over- then after 5 DAYS of it saying it was copying files and the remaining time left was.. "about a day" I gave up and had to return it. I don't have weeks to get a computer ready to use! WTF. Went and ordered a different system. ... show more

I was a bit hesitant to start with but this is such a great deal and I thought I’d take the chance. It is as described, an M1 Mac mini with 16bg of ram and 1tb of ssd storage. The condition is excellent and a search on the serial number at apple showed it as only 10mo old with 2 months of apple warranty left on it. The power cable was not original and not long enough to make it from my desk to the floor. Not a big deal though. I shopped around and this is by far the best deal around, saved almost $300 off new! The seller is very quick to respond and I got a great feeling dealing with them. This is a BTO mac which would not be returnable if ordered new from apple. It’s a maxed out machine.
