this item is well designed and manufactured-it can charge just about anything you will find in your garage from cars to motorcycles to your kids toys-it can deliver 20 amps to fast charge but tapers off to avoid over charge-in addition it can be a maintainer and can even rejuvenate a depleted deep cycle trolling battery the interface is very intuitive every home or farm should have one bonus: comes in a nice box for protection when not in use

First let me say I have been looking for the right charger, that is durable enough, and with 24 volt capabilities, for more than a year now. I have BattleBorn Batteries which are the gold standard of LifePO4 batteries on the market, for my off grid Solar System. These batteries are a very expensive investment worth protecting. To protect these batteries, and the Solar Controller that charges them, we developed a simple circuit to switch on 110v power to activate a charger, to keep the batteries from ever reaching the Battery Management Systems low voltage cutoff point, which can happen after several rainy days. This is so important with an off grid system that uses an MPPT Solar Charge Controller like ours. Our controller cost right at a thousand dollars, and one peculiarity of the MPPT charge controller is that it can be destroyed if the battery load is disconnected while the panels are still connected. So allowing our LifePO4 batteries to discharge too low is a real bad thing! (Don't ask me how I know, OUCH!!) Our biggest problem in developing our failsafe system was in finding a high quality charger that could take up the slack on days when the voltage went too low, and keep a bank of three BattleBorn LifePO4, 24 volt batteries from dropping so low they trigger the disconnect feature built into the batteries. This is not a job for just just any charger. As you can see we are asking so much more of this charger than most users ever would. But this charger handles the job very well. It is a quality piece of equipment. One of the most wonderful things about this charger is that once you configure it to the settings you like, it holds that setting even after the unit is turned off. A lot of electronic smart charges do not, and you have to run through their entire menu all over, every time they are powered up, making them unsuitable for my monitoring device, or any other remote device, like a timer, that switches 110v power to the charger when it is needed, and then turns the power off when it's not. But this charger is well designed enough that it holds its settings when powered off, and it comes right back on when power is restored. Another notable feature of this device is how easy it is to see the display, I can view the state of things from halfway across a room. And maybe best of all is the very simple menu. It not only allows you to easily select your battery type, voltage, and the current of your choice, but it then displays a very easy to understand state of charge while in use. This is one fantastic device for the price. I have other much more expensive chargers that have now become my second choice since adding this to our shop.

The Good: Its small and lightweight... and CHEAP Comes with attached color coded wires and Clamps The power wire is quite long. But not 10ft Its got a crisp well sized screen given how small it is It seems to regulate charging using ambient temperature It does not seem to overheat Its very simple to operate: It has a manual switch for current intensity (5/10/20), although it regulates UP to that intensity. It always starts below the rated selection It allows push-button toggling between "repairing" or charging Regular/agm, Lifepo4, and Lithium batteries, (that fingerprint looking image) It automatically starts executing as soon as it detects voltage across the clamps It is advertised to have reversing and shorting protection The Bad The wires are permanently attached. You get clamps. No options The screen prompts are cryptic. EG: PUL for pulse (repair), FUL for Charged The meter is not very accurate. Tends to read 0.1 V higher The thermometer isn't very accurate either The Fan is VERY Noisy, and ON most of the time It didn't see it do Maintain/Float. It charges once per manual interaction - eg disconnect and reconnect the clamps. I left my LiFePo4 to rest down to 13.4V. Thats about 95% charge. It didn't kick back in. You need to deceive it to charge any battery under 7 volts. Consequently, It will not reset a sleeping BMS I tried recovering a drained lead/acid UPS battery with this device. I refilled the cells with distilled water, and used the recovery setting. No response. Hooked a 12V car battery in parallel, and it started 'PUL'sing. After reading 10V, I disconnected the larger battery. It kept going, until it read "FUL"-13.6V. But the battery was still drained, at 6V. So don't count on it to repair any batteries. That said, I bought it to bulk up my LiFePo4s on overcast days. It took them up to 14.5V after a LONG charging session (12 hrs + for a 200Ah capacity, I think that's a 0.1C max rate). So that works pretty well, though a little slow for large batteries.

Works great and very versatile. It's a lot smaller than my old charger and works with so many different chemistries. My old one only covered lead acid, but the fact that this one covers all that plus lithium and has its own LiFePO4 setting is why I got it. The repair function and the fact that it works with 24v banks is a bonus.
