  • Perfect for travel
Nice and compact. Easy to use. Used these to see glow worms and kiwi's in New Zealand. Also worked well in hostels to get around at night without phone or bright light.

  • Great for Preserving Night Vision
I like to do astrophotography, and part of that is being able to operate in complete darkness in order to get the best shots of the Milky Way. During this process you need to be able to set up your camera, but also preserve your night vision in case something happens, and a regular flashlight will cause your pupils to adjust and then you will be momentarily blinded when you turn it off because your eyes have to readjust to the dark. This is where a red light flashlight comes in. Our night vision is not affected by red light, so you can turn on one of these lights, see where you have to go, and when you turn it off, your eyes are already acclimated to the dark. This 2-pack of red flashlights by Wayllshine is perfect for that use case. Super simple to use, one click on and off, one brightness, and you can adjust the front as a “zoom” which basically concentrates the red light to see farther away. I like that these are “dual fuel”, which means it will accept a standard AA battery or a 14500 rechargeable battery if that is your preference. Super lightweight and with the included clip, you can attach it basically anywhere. Both of these flashlights work as advertised, and will come in handy when I use them during Milky Way season. The front element is a little wobbly, but I don’t think it will break off. At the time of this review it’s a 2-pack for $9, so can’t complain about that. As a bonus, using a red light at night doesn’t attract bugs like a white light, so if you are like me and the bugs like to follow you around, a red light can help with that. ... show more

  • Useful Red Light Flashlights
These red light flashlights are a practical tool when you need extra light without ruining your night vision. They are easy to use, lightweight, and compact enough to carry comfortably during nighttime activities like astronomy or observation. The brightness is solid and the zoom feature allows some beam adjustment, though the long-distance projection is moderate rather than extremely far reaching. Overall, they feel well made and offer excellent value for anyone needing a dependable red light for low-light environments. ... show more

  • Great quality and value
Really nice quality and red LED is great for not ruining your night vision, also good for middle of the night trips to the bathroom without having to turn on blinding overhead lights. Sturdy aluminum construction, sturdy steel belt clip and nice focused light beam, you can slide the forward sleave and reduce the beam size. These are a great deal two flashlights at this price. ... show more

  • Handy little camping flashlights.
These work fantastically. They're fun little emergency low visibility/light flashlights you can use for camping. All they require is one battery each which is very convenient. They come with directions but that's kind of silly since it only has an on/off button, and battery insertion is kind of a brainless action. Lol. Anyway, these are really sturdy and feel heavy and wellmade when you use them. They have a convenient clip so you can place them anywhere. You "zoom" with the light by extending and pushing in the head of the flashlight. Very easy to operate. See photos for what that looks like. I like them quite a bit. We will get good use from them. Definitely recommend. They are a great deal for the price. ... show more

  • Decent cheap red lights for night use, but zoom head is loose
These little red flashlights are fine for what they are: inexpensive, single-color lights for night use where you don’t want to kill your night vision. They run on a single AA battery and I’m getting roughly 2–3 hours of mixed on/off use before the beam starts to dim noticeably, which is reasonable for the size. The beam is adjustable from a wide flood to a tighter spot. Flood mode gives a smooth, even wash that’s great for walking around or working up close. When you slide it to full focus you get the classic square LED-chip pattern in the hotspot (pretty normal for this zoom style), and it’s bright enough to easily read maps or see gear out to typical backyard distances. Compared to a larger red headlamp I use, these are a bit less powerful overall but plenty usable for close to medium range. Build quality is very “budget but usable.” The bodies are lightweight metal with pocket clips, and the tail switches have worked reliably so far. The main drawback is the zoom/focus sleeve on the head – it slides very freely with noticeable play and there’s no obvious way to snug it up, so the beam can shift if you bump it. I’ve also noticed that water can find its way under the front lens fairly easily in damp conditions, so I wouldn’t treat these as rain-proof. They’re small and handy, but not built like heavy-duty lights. I’d expect them to lose a fight with concrete pretty fast, though mine have survived normal, careful use so far. For the price, they make decent backup or glovebox red lights as long as you’re aware of the loose zoom mechanism and modest durability. ... show more
