  • It works, but instructions are problematic and bait trips trap-door
Item: KUWSEIY store’s 5-gal. Bucket gravity-trap for rats & mice Price: $15.99 for 2-Pack Well, I’ve seen these trap designs, mostly various do-it-yourself designs. When I saw the Kuwseiy store’s trap I wanted to see the ‘formal version.’ Bottom line, I wasn’t overly impressed. The few parts included in this little kit are plastic molded and held together using small tabs that fit into small slots. That seems pretty straight forward, but getting the small tabs into undersized slots was more a task than I anticipated. My caution is, be careful not to overstress the tabs when assembling as they’re weak and can break. Of the four ‘bridge parts’ that have large tabs for fitting into the bucket cover, one of those tabs came broken. It’s not a game changer, but told me that the plastic was too brittle and/or weak. The instructions are much too small, barely legible, and moreover the grammatically challenging instructions along with the poor photos beg the question, “Why didn’t they just provide an assembly-instruction video?” I noted that other traps shown on their vendor pages had better product photos that seemed helpful. The one thing the Kuwseiy store’s 2-pack trap kit had over most others on the vendor page was a ‘lower price.’ While I know this design has worked for many, this particular kit and the vendor page were a bit misleading. The vendor page photos show large amounts of cheese, presumably as bait (?). In fact, the door is balanced to be flat with 'nothing' on it. So I originally, as in my photo, put a few smaller blocks of cheese at the inner-end of the trap door. And to adjust-counterbalance the door, I put some vegetation from our garden; succulent leaves. But I'm changing that to just 'smearing' smoked cheese or peanut butter evenly across the top of the black colored trap door. It's not the food but the aroma that attracts the rodents. And many of these traps use no bait at all. I just wish the instructions went into more detail about the operation of the trap and baiting. My opinion… This item really needs improved printed assembly instructions. Yes, the trap-kit saves time in that you don’t have to ‘make your own trap-adapter’ for your 5-gallon buckets. But with poor instructions, very weak assembly tabs and undersized slots and evidently incorrect references to using any bait, I really feel this kit and vendor page has room for improvement. ... show more

  • No mice yet but hopeful it works like a charm.
We have mice but not a lot or often in our house. 3 cats are not the best mousers. Saw an ad for a similar product so bounced on this one. These are very well balanced on the trap so that the smallest weights that I was playing with tripped it. The bucket trap is good for live trapping or not-live trapping depending on if you fill it with water or not. The only thing I was not a fan of were the clips for assembly are very thin and bend easily if you are not careful. Definitely NOT up to putting together/apart multiple times. Assemble it and keep it together. ... show more
