This product arrived on time and in a small box with everything needed (aside from your own drill of course) to be installed. I’ve been slowly becoming more of a handyman around my home, but I’d still consider myself a beginner on a lot of these DIY things. With that being said, I was still able to install these based on the instructions without any problems in about 20 minutes max. Super easy and simple enough for a noob like me. Great for reinforcing the strength of your door. I would suggest installing them on the lower part of your door (under the handle and lock) as in the case of an actual home invasion, the intruder would most likely only be able kick in the middle or towards the bottom. You could install one on the top and bottom for that extra peace of mind if you’d prefer. This purchase has made my wife and I less concerned for those times when we’re home alone, especially for her. Aside from our dogs and other security measures, we now have an added layer of safety in the case that we ever need it. If you are anything like me as a mother then you need this on your front door asap. From some unknown reason a lot of homes are built with the kids rooms closest to the front door and I am terrified that one of my toddler will open the door and walk out without me knowing even though I have a security alarm but it still worried me. I thought about getting the door knob security stopper that prevent you from grabbing the door handle unless you hold it a certain way but then I thought about the possibility of a break in and how easy it is to pick the lock on a door so I came across this item and absolutely love. Not only does this keep your children in the home but also keeps anyone who is not welcomed out. After my husband installed it we tested it out. Wasn’t looking for door locks but found these during prime days and decided to beef up my exterior doors. One thing to consider before you purchase is whether or not your door has a 1/8” gap at the jamb. You need a slight gap to ensure your door won’t get hung up. If you don’t have a big enough gap, you can still install it, but you will need to chisel out some wood of your jamb. Not too many people want to start carving up their jambs. I certainly don’t. That being said, the locks are solid and seem like really good quality metal. Very simple to install, simply place it the height you want it, mark it off, the mark the center adjust screw. Drill a pilot hole and mount it to your jamb. You can then adjust it to make sure your door will close completely and allow the the lock to fully engage when the door is closed. Once you verify the depth for mounting, you can use the longer screws to mount it to the jamb. Once installed, I went outside and leaned my shoulder into the door and it didn’t budge. Gives me good peace of mind knowing that if someone busts my deadbolt while on vacation, they won’t be able to get in. These locks are definitely a good value for the money. I bought the 2 pack of these locks (one for the front door and one for the back door) and I love them. They open easily and 'click' into the locked position just as easily. They feel very solid and after installing them I believe the 800lbs force resistance claimed. Cons: 1. If I absolutely had to say something bad about them, it's that because of the manual nature of the lock itself, they can only be locked or unlocked from the inside of the house. If you don't unlock one of the doors and later want to enter through that door...you can't. For example, if I forget to unlock the back door and end up out back, I can't enter the house through the back door without first going in through the front and unlocking the lock from the inside. This is a minor hassle, easily corrected once you're accustomed to the locks presence, but it's worth mentioning because the locks work so well that you will absolutely be locked out of any door you don't pre-open before going out. 2. If you place the lock low enough for a pet or child to reach, the lock could be accidentally locked by an excited pet pawing at the door or a mischievous child and once locked....it can only be unlocked from the inside. INSTALL IT HIGH ENOUGH ON THE DOOR TO PREVENT THIS! Pros: The mechanism is solid and smooth and designed in such a way that is extremely unlikely/if not impossible to be accidentally locked out while you're away. I.e. I don't see this lock closing on its own so long as you install it high enough up on the door to prevent pets or children from locking it.
