Running to the store the day of a party at our house involves driving into another county, and over 30 minutes each way, so having a stash of ice blocks for the coolers works out so much better. An ice block melts slower than a bag of cubes and I feel it really keeps things in the coolers much colder. I get started a few days if not a week in advance and make as many as I can store. I use a small sheet tray to keep them on because they are silicon and trying to maneuver them in and out of the freezer can sometimes result in taking a shower with them. So, I use the tray and so far, so good. I am thinking of getting a few more or seeing if they have a bigger option to help this process along. ... show more
