I live in an old building I LA, water I all of Southern California is really hard so I've always had at least a chlorine filter. The building despite being old is well maintained as far as I can tell aside from the lime buildup on faucets. However my hard water filter wasn't cutting it at all and after they flushed the pipes a few weeks ago my water started smelling rusty. I'd take a shower and come out smelling and feeling worse. Of course the landlord does nothing about it. So I got this filter after hours of reading so many reviews and went with this one because of the good reviews and 18 levels of filtration vs 2, or just vitamin c. I also got some water test kit strips that I similarly scoured so many reviews over. My water stopped smelling metallic so I'd hoped thateant it was working, but just got the test kit. On the left is the strip from sink water and right is shower with the filter on. The top square on the left was actually green before it started to dry. So the filter changed the ph and...nothing else. No change in water hardness or any metals. I think the problem with so man of these filters and their reviews isn't just the quality of the filter, but that most are intended for people in newer houses or apartments where even in an area with hard water...isn't really that hard or I need of filtering out much. The real test is do these filters work in apartments, or older buildings - and for this one it seems it doesn't. Soap scum still builds up, hair is still frizzy and breaking, water still feels drying (how can water be dry? Well if it's super hard that's what it feels like, it's weird). My fiancé had a bad rash on his feet that cleared up in like two days after installing this filter and he had it for about a month or two. I’m 8 months pregnant and take a lot of hot showers thru out the day and night my nose would always run and my eye would be irritated and I would have a bad cough bc of all the chlorine.     • Great shower filter use if you have frizzy dry hair
I was questioning my purchase because the price was too good to be true. It was easy to install. I am a woman in her late 50s and I installed it myself. It's been in use for about 6 months. I am the only one who uses the shower with the filtration. My hair is trashed from chemo, coloring and going gray. Much to my surprise, some of that damage was caused by hard water. First it came 3 days early so that was great. I installed it in 5 minutes, very easy. They said something about putting on rubber washers but I didn't have any included with my filter if they were supposed to be. I've taken one shower with it so far and definitely notice that my hair is softer and shinier. That is what I purchased it for so hopefully over time I'll notice other benefits to my skin and whatnot. Recommend ... show more

Installed the filter when it arrived. Water pressure is the same a plus to other filters. Can feel the hardness leave the water after each shower. The instructions listed some charcoal release but have not encountered. Replacement cartridges are economical, not sure how a four month turn around will be, hoping it will last, we have high calcium and iron water. So far the product is working out well. ... show more

    • Great filter replacement and high water output
The old filter I had from HD lasted about 6 months before it clogged up. The last one was about 32$ and I could not even replace the filter inside. Plus the water input was really low resulting in a slow shower head. This - from price to install was easy. I have a strong water output, can feel the softness of the water asap.
