  • Responsible Preparation for Potential Emergency Rescue / Education For My Parrot
This is an exciting acquisition for me- to receive this valuable egg incubator designed to support the life and healthy development of pre-hatched birds. I have watched so many videos of “A Chick Called Albert” on youtube, and ever since I have been certain that an egg incubator is an essential in my home if I want to be adequately prepared for some emergency situation I might encounter. Perhaps I will find some live eggs without parental care, which can happen due to a variety of possible causes. I also really want to have geese at my future home. I would eventually get a larger incubator to care for them during hatching and shortly afterward. Yet I feel relieved now to have this incubator which can perform the necessary functions for maintenance of life and growth of a variety of bird species. It’s helpful that there are two egg trays with this incubator, for larger and smaller eggs. However, I would move them into a larger incubator close to hatch time. I tested this machine and it seems to function very well. The directions are clear, and I found the settings easy to change and set for temperature, humidity and egg turning interval. Note that the gear must be installed for the egg turning function to work. I really like the purple and yellow colors used in this incubator. In wrapping it up for storage, I decided not to store the parts inside the incubator but am storing them separately, with bags labeled and the individual parts wrapped in paper towels and paper. They can fit inside the incubator but I'm concerned about potential scratches on the incubator and the water bottles. I’m pleased with this incubator and am glad and relieved to have it. I feel more responsibly prepared for a possible emergency, and I will keep watching bird rescue videos. I don’t wish misfortune on any bird in the wild. However, if I do have an opportunity to rescue an unhatched bird, it will be a marvelous experience for me and my dear precious parrot, who is highly observant and caring, and well understands that he is a bird. It will be very educational for him to watch a bird hatch out of an egg. I would really like that experience with him. So, if after some time I don’t find some abandoned live eggs needing care, I will probably try to find an opportunity to borrow and hatch some chickens who are guaranteed to live a very healthy life with plenty of outdoor pasture when they are returned to their environment, and who will not be used for meat at all, ever. I’m not sure how I might find such privileged chickens, but that’s what I’m hoping for. I can hardly wait to watch my bird watch a bird hatch. That will be so exciting for both of us. ... show more

  • From Eggs to Fluffy Chicks—A Homesteaders Dream Come True
I’ll be honest—I started this whole “let’s hatch eggs” journey thinking it would be a fun little science project. You know, educational, wholesome, maybe something to impress my niece with. What I didn’t expect was to get hooked on candling eggs like a chicken whisperer in training and cheering every pip like it was the Super Bowl. This 18-egg incubator has absolutely delivered—both in hatch rate and in giving me a legitimate reason to check on eggs 10 times a day. What Makes This Incubator a Winner: ✅ Automatic Egg Turning Forget flipping eggs by hand like a delicate pancake chef. This incubator does it for you, at timed intervals (60, 120, or 180 minutes), and even pauses 3 days before hatch day to protect the developing chicks. My inner control freak was very soothed by this automation. ✅ Accurate Temp & Humidity Control Maintains a near-perfect 99°F and steady humidity. And when something drifts out of range, the incubator alerts you—not with an annoying blare, but a helpful “Hey, fix me!” kind of beep. It’s like having a tiny assistant chicken farmer in your kitchen. ✅ Built-in Candler = Addictive The candler is bright—like CSI: Embryo Edition. You can check progress without opening the lid, which means no humidity drops and no accidental hard-boiled embryos. Plus, it’s just plain fascinating to see little heartbeats flickering in the shell. ✅ Clear 360° Dome The full view window is a big win—especially when you hit hatch day. Watching the chicks emerge from their shells without disturbing them is magical. I may or may not have sat in front of it for two hours like it was nature’s Netflix. ✅ Low Maintenance Water Refill System The auto-refill feature is a blessing. It uses a separate water bottle system to maintain humidity without daily refills. Set it up once and you’re good to go—perfect for forgetful folks like me who aren’t trying to ruin chick development because they got distracted by a snack. ✅ Multi-Species Compatibility So far, I’ve successfully hatched chicken and quail eggs. Setup for different egg sizes is intuitive, and the manual (shockingly) makes sense. It even comes with a 21-day success guide, which made me feel like less of a noob. My Experience So Far: I’ve run two full batches and had impressive hatch rates both times—better than a few large-scale incubators I’ve tried in the past. The chicks came out healthy, fluffy, and totally unbothered by my enthusiastic play-by-play commentary. Who It’s Great For: First-time hatchers Homeschool science projects Hobby farmers Anyone who has said “Let’s just hatch a few…” and ends up naming all their chicks If you’re ready to feel like a proud, slightly frazzled bird parent while marveling at the miracle of life unfolding on your kitchen counter, this incubator is for you. Bonus: your family will think you’re basically a farmer now. Chicken boots not included. ... show more
