I needed an unusually long bread knife to cut my homemade bread in the bread slicing apparatus I'd bought earlier. This is the longest knife I could find on Amazon OR ebay. I had reservations about purchasing it because a few reviewers claimed it was "too bendy." I imagined a knife that was very flimsy and perhaps even worthless for what I needed it for, however, since I had no other immediate choice to find an equally long knife anywhere else I bought it. I found this knife to work very well. The "bendy" thing ... I don't know ... I don't see it. This knife is very long and doesn't seem bendy at all, considering its length. Some other reviewers bought this knife to perform other duties besides slicing bread--I can't voutch for them, but for its intended use, slicing bread, for me, it works wonderfully. ... show more

I needed a long bread knife to cut sourdough bread. The length is great. The only problem was the metal sturdiness was flimsy. I could not cut straight thru the bread. The knife kept bowing one way or the other. Other than that it works well on regular loaf bread.
