Nice set of knives for the 50+% off. Everything is pretty sharp and decently made. I would say they don’t value out to the $4xx.xx regular price. But at $2xx.xx they are worth it. We have been using $30-$100 knife sets for awhile and I finally wanted to move up to better tier of knives. Handles feel really nice in your hand, the pinch grip feature is really nice and makes you want to use them that way. The block is well built, the knives themselves have some weight to them so they don’t feel super cheap. They are made in china so you’re not going to be feeling the fine details of a high end set. They do their job well, look and feel good. 4 stars because they do have a made in china feel to them still. If I thought they were made by the Japanese I would be disappointed. Their quality is top notch and there’s minor imperfections that some will notice. I have already and will when on sale ad to this loong series.

I bought these for my daughter who was lamenting not having a complete set of kitchen knives. I compared them to other companies and felt these would do the job. Well, she's used them for a couple of months now and raves about them while showing off her bandaged fingers. Lol! (they are sharper than she is accustomed to.) They are 'san mai' type construction and perform very well. It's not a print. Not as pretty as damascus, but functionally just as good, if not better. We have only found one problem with them so far. The beautiful wood handles have shrunk in the arid air here in central California leaving the perfectly flush and also sharp edge metal of the tang bolster slightly above the surface to catch and/or peel the skin of the unwary user. :) I will take a file to them if necessary. I've gotten her evaporative cooler going so perhaps the handles will swell back to normal in the higher humidity. Then I will oil the heck out of them to help stabilize them. To end on a positive note, I like that the hard but somewhat brittle VG 10 core is clad with a tougher, and more stainless steel for toughness and rust resistance. I feel that I got a great deal for the money. She totally did. ;)
