I had high hopes for this heater/fireplace. It looks very nice. Right out of the box, when just the āflameā screen is turned on, it starts clickingā¦about every 2-3 seconds. Itās a very loud clicking too. Turning on the heating function does not stop the clicking either. Iāve even noticed the flickering āflameā skips a beat when it clicks. Iāve had it for 2 days now and I am probably going to return it for being defective. I would not recommend this unit to anyone. The idea was good but the quality is garbage.

I ordered this to replace a smaller one that I have so it would look more natural in my living room. The remote control also drew me in, the control buttons on both units are close to the floor and controlling from sofa would be much better choice. Iām going to compare the two that I have here, pros and cons. This is nice size to fit in. The flame is lively and more realistic than my other one. it does have more spread between heat settings, low is a very low heat, high is quite warm. The heat is forced out by fan about five or inches off floor on both of them. The sound from heater/ fan is louder than my smaller one, not enough to interfere with tv or talking but enough to remove any doubt that you donāt have a real fire in there! The unit stays room temp except for the area the heat comes out of. My real disappointment with the unit is the remote. It works, adjusting flames low to high is easy, setting time is doable, but it is a guess as to which heat setting you are on, or turning off. The unit keeps blowing a min or so after turning off or adjusting heat so it is not obvious what setting it is on. The controls are on the bottom right hand side, inches above the floor, to use buttons on the unit you have to get on floor, use flashlight, and set. If you want a nice looking unit that produces heat and flames, or flames only, for ambiance, this would be decent choice. If you want full control over heat feature and will make multiple changes this is good but not wonderful in my opinion. It is fairly easy to assemble, just screw on legs and plug in.

My five star review comes from using this little space heater for a while. Now that I've re-read the product page, though, I'm almost tempted to take off a star -- not for the product, just for how it is oversold! Let's start with my experience using it. Set up was easy enough but tedious. The four feet come disassembled, and each one has 4 screws that require careful positioning. Difficult? No. Just sort of time consuming. Make sure you have a phillips head screwdriver or drill handy. When powered up, the unit has a pleasant but obviously fake flame. It's better than the old fashioned ones, and it actually is surprisingly effective for setting the mood of the room. We had a bit more trouble figuring out how to get the unit to heat -- in fact we thought it was broken for a while because the heat would not come on. Finally, we found that there is a thermostat knob on the side of the unit, and that knob needed to be set very high for the unit to be willing to turn on. Once the heat is on, it's sort of like having a quiest-ish hair dryer blowing from under the unit. It doesn't get quite as hot as a hair dryer, even. On the one hand, you won't be using this in an unheated garage or work area to heat the space around you. On the other, the gentle heat is probably a lot safer for an indoor area. After about ten minutes the kitchen we were testing it in was noticeably warmer, even though I could stand directly in front of the unit and not feel over-hot. As for looks, it actually does rather look like cast iron. I put it together, and I am still surprised at how light it is every time I pick it up. Even though the top and sides remain cool, they *look* like they are hot somehow. It's a nice little unit, and I feel like it's safe. Just don't buy the promo pics that show actual flames almost licking out of the door! The flames are projected onto the back wall of the unit. Still cute, but not that realistic!
