  • This is 4P, NOT FOR 2P;Need BYPASS OR REMOVE the ballast, otherwise, it doesn't light on. G24q Series (Female Socket Fixture) to E26 (Male Bulb Base) Adapter - Q series has a shorter tip than D series and is more common in the US.
  • THE BALLAST IN YOUR FIXTURE MUST BE REMOVED OR BYPASSED FOR THESE ADAPTERS TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. CONSULT AN ELECTRICIAN IF YOU ARE UNSURE. DO NOT OPERATE A LED BULB WITH A BALLAST IN THE FIXTURE, DOING SO WILL LIKELY DAMAGE THE BULB.
  • All pin-based CFL, like GX24Q G24d Gx24d GX23 G23 are lamp-ballast separated, but all screw-in E26 E27 are lamp-ballast integrated. ballast is a must to start a high voltage(600V-1500V 1ms) to light up the CFL, but it is dangerous for LED Lamp. Because LED Lamp are built with LEDs and Driver which is transforming the 100-240V AC to DC for LEDs. So the LED Driver input should be 100V-240V or 85-265V, so 600-1500V will be too high, and easily destroy the led lamp.
  • There are some LED Driver who can be compatible with the ballast, no LED Driver can be compatible with all the ballast. So the best thing is bypass or remove once we want to change CFL to LED Lamp. When we remove pin-based CFL, we only removed the lamp, the ballast is still working in front fixture; even we change to E26/E27 CFL, there will be 2 ballasts, the light will not work.

  • I bought this converter thinking it was an easy swap only to learn it isnt
I am replacing those dreadful CFL bulbs with LEDs and bought this because many of my light fixtures use the also awful GX24 socket. This is a 4 pin socket for CFLs. I bought this converter thinking it was an easy swap only to learn it isnt. No big deal, figured out how to wire around the ballast and have replaced all of my CFLs with LEDs. $ stars because there were no directions on how to bypass that ballast in the ceiling, but it isnt hard. Second, if you just plug this into the GX24, the bulb sticks out too far. So you have to remove the GX24 clip on and screw it into the base of the can. Once you do that, its about a half an inch short compared to other bulbs. Buy the longer version and screw the gx24 into the can - it will be perfect. ... show more

  • Easy installation
These adapters plug in easily and are easy to remove from the light socket, unlike an actual four prong light bulb which feel like their going to break in my hand as I try to remove them from the light socket. However, CAUTION to anyone thinking of purchasing these adapters so they can use screw in type florescent or LED bulbs. SCREW in LED and/or florescent bulbs will not work. You will have to disconnect the ballast of the current light fixture before these will work. You can use an incandescent bulb without any modifications. I do not recommend these adapters unless you know how to bypass your current light fixture ballast. ... show more

  • Great adapters
I'm using these to convert old 26 watt G24Q dual lamp cans to a much more efficient 10 watt GE stick light lamps. The fit on the adapter is nice and snug on the G24Q side and the Edison base fits nicely as well. You do, of course, need to verify that you have 120V and bypass the ballast in order for these to work properly. Edit: I ordered several more packages of these to complete my retrofit project and was surprised by several of the screws on the adapters had fallen out into the box. The screws were from the e26 side of the adapter and they were for the connection of the neutral from the e26 to the pins on the g24. It was a trivial matter to screw them back in, but had I not noticed it would have led to adapters and lamps failing perhaps spectacularly. ... show more

  • Works well once you understand what you are in for....
I dont really know what to say here. They are exactly as described. I see people are having a lot of problems with them, but if you read the details, it clearly says you must remove the ballast. NOW, I removed a star because only 2 pin are wired on this one. And it really isnt clear which 2 of the 4. Do yourself a favor and when you wire around your ballast, make sure you just go ahead and and send power to all 4 pins. Otherwise you are just going to be guessing later on if they dont work. ... show more

  • No Warning/Caution Label
This product worked perfectly in my fans after removing the ballast, no issues. The reason I'm giving it 3 starts; there is no warning label to attached to the permanent light fixture indicating that the lamp socket has been retrofitted, ballast has been remove, LED only or something. Not knowing; somebody can removed this adapter and plugin a regular CFL bulb creating a hazardous condition. There no certification marking or label on the adapter them self, the include instructions do have the European certification logo of CE. I would recommend this adapters if they came with a Warning or Caution label. ... show more

  • Works great with the following caveat.,
Just be sure to wire the hot wire colored wires (the reds in my home) coming out of the fluorescent bulb socket you are converting to the black hot wire you remove from going to the ballast and both (blue in my home) neutral wires to the white return wire because according to others both posts aren't wired so this way at least juice flows through one. Since I always did I never had a problem and have installed at least three now. It's just getting the metal housing out of the way to GET to the ballast and then getting it back in place which are the only hard parts to this job. ... show more

  • Love this item for G24 to A19 retro-fit
Love this item for G24 to A19 retro-fit, not for the novice (DIY). Requires power supply bypass in 120 volt supply voltage applications only! If you're not sure, hire a professional through Amazon, better safe than sorry.

  • Even with bypassed ballasts...
After reading other reviews, my husband and I hired a couple of handymen to bypass our CFL ballasts before installing these adapters. The bypasses were successful. They then placed the adapters in the old prong sockets and tested each bulb to make sure the adapters were not turned around...success!! BUT--only a month, two, and three months later 85%(ish) of the bulbs went out! Several turned on and off a few times before remaining out. We finally purchased a totally different bulb (halogen instead of a cheaper incandescent) yesterday to see if that was the problem, but after removing a couple of the old incandescent bulbs we realized they weren't even burnt out. We made sure of this by trying them in another fixture. The bulbs were fine. The adapters died within months of proper installation!! What a waste of money! ... show more
