This is a nice machine! It came well packed with super easy instructions. I appreciate the longer window bracket thing. I have 48" tall windows and this fits perfectly. Assembly was easy and the hose to machine to window bracket thing is awesome. I've had 3 other portable air conditioners and connecting the hose, and keeping it connected, was always a pain. This manufacture obviously gave this some thought because everything connected easily and seems solid. Now, it is a bit noisy, but I like the white noise effect.

I’m using this to replace my existing portable AC in my garage. The old unit is rated at 8000 BTU (see below for more on ratings), and actually pumps out a lot of cold air, but it isn’t enough to offset the garage temperature during a Florida summer. For comparison purposes, my garage is 440 square feet with an eight foot ceiling. I have weather-sealed the garage door with insulation and gasketing to make the space as air-tight as possible. The walls are cinder block construction without insulation. I don’t run this new unit “on-demand.” In other words, I set the thermostat between 85 and 90 degrees and leave it that way, otherwise, the unit would have to start out with an ambient temperature that can approach 115 degrees – especially after pulling my car inside. As a rough estimate, it runs about 35 to 40 percent of the time. My old unit just couldn’t bring the temperature down on the hottest days. The new unit? I figure I have about fifty percent more cooling capacity, enough to not only lower the garage temperature to 85 degrees but to cycle on and off while keeping it that way. I’m not sure how to compare the BTU ratings of the old unit to the new, as both were measured with multiple rating factors, some of which are more favorable than others. With that said, I’ve compared the output of this new portable unit to a 12K BTU split unit (one ton), and I can’t tell any difference. Translation? This thing has plenty of cooling power. There are attached wheels to move it around, although the unit is essentially tethered to an exhaust window or other exterior/outside opening. The controls are obvious to understand and use, and the display is plenty bright and responsive. There are three fan speeds, plus an auto setting that I haven’t used – I assume the auto speed varies based on the cooling demand. In other words, the greater difference between the ambient temperature and the desired temp, the faster the fan will run. There’s also a sleep mode, which I don’t need or use in a garage installation. The seller includes an installation kit, allowing the user to direct the exhaust to a nearby window and seal off the remaining open space to avoid air leaks to the outside. The unit may be a bit heavy for some. It has finger relief slots on either side, but frankly, they weren’t deep enough to be effective. I found it easier to “bear-hug” the unit, and simply carry it where I wanted it. The remote control is large, easy to read and set, and offers full control of the unit from a distance. Unlike the small, confusing remotes I’ve seen with other brands, I actually use this one. Some things to keep in mind: Choose an electrical circuit that is relatively “unloaded.” Plugging this into a circuit that already has dedicated appliances (like a kitchen circuit) will produce nuisance tripping. This unit needs a lot of amperage, so use a lightly loaded circuit, and if you need to use an extension cord, make sure it’s 12-gauge wire (a smaller gauge cord will run hot). If you live in a high humidity area (like Florida), where the humidity can reach 85 percent plus, expect to see some condensation drainage. Simply route the drain tube to the outside or a nearby drain to avoid a puddle. The unit produces noise comparable to a window unit of the same size. After a few minutes, it tends to blend into the background. Not an issue. Overall, this is a well-designed, larger capacity portable AC that produces plenty of cold air for larger rooms. You can also use it to help cool a living room or other large area that isn’t receiving enough cold air from an existing central AC unit. For me, the best part is knowing I have a back-up unit in case my central AC fails during the summer months, letting me cool my master bedroom until the central unit is repaired. Highly recommended.

When my old hvac system needed to be replaced, I had a mini split installed in my small home. It heats and cools my home perfectly but sometimes my guests like it a lot cooler at night and they (my son in law) would turn down my thermostat in the middle of the night. I would wake up freezing. I installed this portable a/c in my guest bedroom. Installation was super easy. I installed it with no help at all. The hose and window assembly fit my standard window perfectly. The unit functions well and cools the room quickly. The settings and controls are easy to use. Guests can sleep as cool as they want without freezing mom. Lol I love that this unit is portable. I can move it to another room easily, should the need arise. This unit isn't as quiet as I thought but my guests usually like white noise of a fan or a phone app. This unit is easy to set up, is efficient at cooling and removing humidity and will keep me from shivering when guests stay over. A good value, in my opinion. I hope this was helpful.

This air conditioner arrived in a well packaged box. It took about 20 minutes to get it apart and assembl the tube and window brackets. Its a very easy design and comes with a remote. It had some regular fan noise when turned on but not bad at all. The buttons and leds are laid out in a easy way to see what you’re setting it to. For what you’re getting I would say this a good value for sure. It would easily cool down a bedroom or medium sized room. I am using it for my breezeway that gets very hot in the Summer. Its a medium sized room and the ceiling is tall. It cooled down the room in less than an hour. You could feel a difference for sure. The remote and the unit have the same features. It has a timer and or sleep function. You can also turn off the lights that way so you don’t see it at night. The instructions were easy to follow. They show you about how to drain it as well as the full feature set. This unit also did not trip my breaker in the breezeway and my previous air conditioner did do that. This one has the reset on the plug as well which makes it nice if you trip the breaker. Also for safety of course. The unit looks nice also. I look forward to being a little cooler while working on things in my garage now this year.
