    • i'm quite impressed
so it's early, k - very early, especially for a review but after reading 100's of reviews, i thought it would be good to share my experience. so this is primarily about the installation. the light works fine and really puts out. so let's keep in mind this is a flush mount fixture and i mean flush! forget about all the crap regarding fitment. i have a house built in '86 and the mount worked fine. and yes, you could trim another .5 inch of insulation off the wires on the fixture but i only did one that way. why? great question. this lamp only draws 24 watts. we have bulbs (25 watts) that draw more and those incandescents won't let u see very much. point being, while shaving more insulation ain't bad, it's not very necessary with such a small load provided you make it a good connection. the fixture comes with a 6 - 8" chain that allows it to hang from the mounting plate while the wires are being connected. nice touch and quite helpful. after attaching the wires, u MUST shove those pups back through a very narrow hole in the center of the mounting plate and back into the electrical box. yes, it's a MUST! why, cause the wire nuts were too thick to leave outside the box and attach the fixture. so the nuts (as always) are the problem. i used 2 of the wire nuts that came with the fixture and shoved them back into that narrow hole. just be patient and work it, k. since the ground (green) wire is pretty useless in the situation, i used a very tiny wire nut and left it outside the electrical box, between the mounting plate and the fixture. u should have enough room depending on the size of the nut. once you've done that, the rest is less trifling. oh, it's still trifling, but not as much and the finished product is a dream! so now that the load (blacK) and neutral (white) wires are back in the box, they don't interfere with the tight fit of the fixture to the mounting plate. u simply push the fixture up against the mounting plate and twist counter-clockwise. now plan on taking a few tries, k. the key thing here, is making sure that all of the wires are inside the lip of the fixture. that's paramount, k. the second one was much easier than the first and i had to do the first twice because i forgot to select a color for the main light. ok, aesthetically it's a bad-ass light. the amber color does come on with the first flip and while it's brighter than i thought from looking at the pics, it does not seem to be intrusive, should one chose to leave it on as a night-light. flick the switch again and the main light comes on while the amber goes off. do it a third time and everything's off. look folks, this is a very bright 12" light without being over the top. the lens softens the brightness so that it's not a bother. in a nutshell, i really like this light. i hope it stands the test of time but it's pretty and with the white trim blends on an 8' ceiling and , it's damn near invisible when off yet tasteful. we use them in the kitchen and hallway. ... show more

I got two of these for my Kitchen: Hykolity 10 Inch Dimmable LED Ceiling Light, 17W 1100lm 4000K Oil Rubbed Bronze for $27 Hykolity 16 Inch Dimmable LED Ceiling Light, 25W 1600lm 4000K Oil Rubbed Bronze for $50 These are very bright. The 16in is much brighter that the 2x 60w CFL I replaced. It comes with everything you need to install. They are supposedly dimmable, so the next step is to install a couple smart, dimmable switches. I am very happy with these lights. The "glass" lens is actually frosted plastic... it looks great. Very light weight. If you get different sizes, make sure you match the "color". 4000K is still very bright white. Update 7/31/2021: This review was NOT for the 13" light with nightlight. I'm confused as to how reviews can be moved around and applied to different products. I've seen this happen many times. That's why I had included a description and photos of the lights I reviewed. This activity makes me suspicious of the manufacturer; Hykolity, and will need to reconsider any future purchases... and reduce my rating from 5 stars to 1 stars. Stop it! ... show more

    • Misleading description, but great light
The description is incorrect. When the light is first turned on, the night light turns on. To get the regular light, you need to turn it on, then if, then on. Its a great light for the price, but I wish the regular light came on first. I'd also suggest getting ab electrical box clamp to secure the wires. I wore through the ground wire twisting the fixture in the bracket. Not a big deal, but if it was the hot or neutral it would be a big deal. ... show more

    • The light is ok but would not buy it again
This light is just OK. What I don't like is the night light puts off a yellow - gold hue which makes my ceiling and the room look goldish brown (unattractive to me). The light works as described when you switch it on the second time the full brightness of the light comes on. Kind of a nuisance to have to switch it twice for full light effectiveness. Would not buy it again! I tought the night light would be an option but it comes on first when you switch the light on. Takes two manual switch efforts to get to normal light. ... show more

These lights are great! I love the option of choosing the brightness level for different locations and the night light feature is wonderful. We installed them in the living room, dining room, kitchen and family room. We weren't sure if they would work properly with 3-way switches, but no problem. Their low profile makes them almost invisible on the ceiling, like a can light. They were easy to install, however there were no arrows on the light to help align the clips onto the mounting bracket as listed in the directions....so it took a few tries. The mounting bracket was surprisingly sturdy. I was unsure of the actual product color as they looked white in the pictures, but said they were "oil rubbed" in the color description. I was looking for a light to replace an old fluorescent light fixture in my kitchen. I had bought a similar looking lamp that failed within a year, apparently due to my lutron dimmer switch that controlled it. This light has worked well as the replacement: it is plenty light for the space, works well with the Lutron switch, and has a nice low profile against the ceiling. We have purchased three of these fixtures as replacements for lights in our home in AZ. We have installed them in our two bathrooms, as well as a central hallway. Installation is easy and the instructions are both clear and straightforward. We especially like the ability to select light intensity (3, 5, or 5K) prior to installation.
