I tested this at a competitor's locale and bought it for a gift. I wanted one for me, as well, but they were gone. I was a little worried that the display model I had initially purchased would have been cherry picked because of its smooth operation, but the TWO that I ordered (one for me, and one for darling hubby) were just as smooth. If you knock the handle, it will complete two full revolutions on its own. One thing I didn't notice when I bought them was that there is no trigger. You have to flip the bail manually. I actually prefer the trigger, but since it didn't say it had one, it's my fault. I use this rig for crappie fishing and the odd walleye, and it never fails. Be forewarned it comes in a box without the handle attached. It's pretty brainless to put it on, but if you give it to someone less mechanically inclined, open it and put on the handle. Buttery smooth. Ordered the 4000 series and all the complaints people made on the smaller reels don't apply. By far the nicest spinning reel I've ever had. The only thing I'd change is I'd make the center shaft a bit larger but that would increase weight.

The only thing I would suggest is getting the larger size I am just going through a lot of Line I had to restring my fishing pole probably about four times last year this is because I was doing a lot of fishing but also it was just too small for the size fish I was pulling in. Love this highly recommended just make sure you get the bigger size if you're going for bigger fish! ... show more

Don’t let other people’s reviews deter you from this reel. People getting line hung under there reel is user error all the way. NO QUESTION!! Purchased this reel and spooled 30lb hi vis braid on it and went straight to work. Has performed perfect. Has not gave me any trouble. 13 fishing products are without a doubt a top tier company. People having problems want the reel to cast and catch fish by itself. The reel is awesome and recommended buying 13 products all the way. ... show more
