These grommets are adequate. I didn't need very many of them and didn't want to spend a lot of money, so this set seemed to fit the bill well compared to a lot of other inexpensive options with bad reviews. I agree with another reviewer who mentioned that the grommets were 'sharp' and cut into their project. I can see exactly what they're saying. The metal is so thin and unfinished that when you hammer the washer part on, it forces the main body of the grommet to 'curl' and can cut into your material. I am using these grommets on some heavy duty cotton webbing (2mm thickness) and have 2 issues. First, the grommet is cutting into the material around the grommet edge and the included hole punch is nearly worthless on this webbing. I increased the effectiveness somewhat by twisting the punch while hammering and also using hardwood as a backing plate instead of a pine 2x4. I also sharpened the punch by chucking it in my drill and turning it against a file. All these things led to some improvement, but it amounted to lipstick on a pig. Perhaps if you're cutting leather, canvas or even denim you'll have better luck. I still gave this set 4 stars because it allowed me to complete my project for a reasonable cost. Just don't expect these grommets to provide you a lifetime of heavy duty use.

There are some things I don’t like about this, but it is not bad enough to take away any stars, especially considering the value for the price. It is inexpensive, but doesn’t feel too cheap. The instructions are not very clear, but you can kind of figure out how to make it work. The tools are difficult to use, but again for the price point I wouldn’t expect it to be the most advanced. Once you get the hang of it, it is easier to punch the holes, but this worked perfectly in a crunch. I accidentally ordered a poster instead of a banner and they would not punch grommets in a poster so I had to figure out how to still be able to use this with my banner holder. It worked perfectly and now I don’t have to re-order the product plus I can use the rest of the grommets for other projects.

Just what I needed and it worked great for my project. Needed to put a drawstring in a couple pairs of shorts. Put grommets where the drawstring came out at the waist. Looks nice and keeps the fabric from raveling out. Very happy with the look and it was easy to use.
