I haven't cut up a tough steak yet. Heavy weight, also appears durable and nice looking on the table.. Update: #1 Not conducive for hand washing in my opinion. The inside is glazed and washes up nice. The back side is grippy rough and difficult to use microfiber wash cloths to clean. Dishwasher works great. Who wants to hand wash anyway? 🤔

Updatedto 5: They are replacing the 2 that are broken and i couldn't be happier. Tentative 3 at this time. I ordered 2 sets and in beige and a set of the bowls arrived broken. It appears the beige sets are no longer available so I'm really nervous if they can even just replace the bowls. I do have a message out and hoping customer service is stellar. Otherwise, they appear really good quality and solid. I love the design and rustic feel of them! I'll update as soon as I know. I'm really excited to own these so fingers crossed!

As can be seen in my photos here, there was 1 bowl that was already broken by the time I opened the box. However, I want to clear here as well that it is unknown to me exactly when, where, how, or by whom it came to be broken. I don't know if it's something we did when moving the box into the house, or if it might have happened at any other point along the way. The dishes were packed in a reasonably protective manner, plus they do look to be well crafted, and so I hesitate to place responsibility fully anywhere. But neither did I not want to mention it at all because it still could have happened anytime, anywhere, under anyone's watch. It's simply unknown. Therefore, after much thought over this matter, I figured it the most fair to minus 1 star, but not any more than that. These dishes are indeed real ceramics and have a fairly heavy weight in accordance to each piece's size. Their walls are mostly fairly thick ( not too fragile looking ), except perhaps for the very outer edge of the plates. It looks like there is a bit of thickness tapering and slight periodic wavyness there. Not necessarily a bad design choice, but users will need to be mindful of that being a trait of some plates. The bowls in the set that I recieved don't appear to have that trait, but perhaps that changes from batch to batch or from set to set. I don't know, but this is fine for me. The overall appearance of these dishes looks like they are hand-made rather than machine-made. That may or may not be, but they do have that look. Especially in the plates, which aside from their wavy edges, also have slightly wavy or lumpy centers. Not their bottoms or reverse sides, but the surface area where the food rests. Plus, the glaze used on this set is a light tint - mid shade of tan with a somewhat aged or dingy rustic effect. They aren't dirty or old or anything, they are definitely brand new. Their glaze is just meant to give them an antique or rustic appearance, which it does do quite well for those who enjoy that style. I do like these plates and am happy with the set pieces that survived their arrival here. 4 out of 5 stars.

These struck my eye while looking for Thanksgiving dinner wear. Our everyday dishes are Pfaltzgraf but with chickens on them so not really dressy if we’re having guests. I was going to get special Thanksgiving dishes but my storage is limited and it made more sense to get dishes we could use more than once a year. I already have Christmas dishes so this was a splurge. I am very happy with them, the color is right for Thanksgiving, they are a rust color and look handmade! I appreciate no cups as we would never use them, we have mugs we like already and it would just mean something else taking up precious space. I hope I don’t regret just buying one set. I wish they made them with six settings. Storing 8 place settings would be hard but I could manage 6. They are beautiful and will look great on our Thanksgiving tablecloth and napkins.
