This mattress has helped my back pain. It is a med firm support; you won't sink down. I was pleasantly surprised how heavy it is as I was afraid it might just be soft foam. I still can't imagine how it was compressed into the shipping box! There was absolutely no smell, and it fully expanded in 24 hours. We waited 3 days to put it on the bed just to be sure. If it retains its firmness and shape over time this will definitely be a winner.
