Pieces have a good heavy weight to them, and they feel really durable. I installed it at my side fence entrance that doesn't get much use, but we still wanted some sort of lock there due to recent break ins close by. I only needed my screw driver since it already came with screws to use. I did get some glue to add on, just to be safe. I wish I ordered the 24 inch one, because although this one does the job and locks the gate, I suffer from back pain, and it's a pain to open for me. Although it's a little short for me, I'm still happy with my gate latch. It's durable, and I feel like it will last years.

This gate “rod/bar” system works great, but is on the expensive side for what you get in the kit. My side yard fence is old and the gate door is lopsided and occasionally closes on its own. I wanted to add something to it before I accidentally lock myself out. I saw this on amazon and thought it was going to be a heavy duty gate rod/bar. I was very excited to get a large delivery box from Amazon, only to be disappointed with a small bar and some mounting hardware. They work gteat and was easy to install. However, I could had probably found a cheaper alternative at my local hardware store. Things always look good on the advertisement! The kit comes with the main bar/rod with the locking latches with wood screws. This kit will work with any standard wooden fence door. Color matches well and does not stick out. I recommend you get the 24” rod versus the 18”. That extra 6” makes a big difference. The kit does NOT include any instructions on how to mount the hardware. You will need to look at the amazon page to see how it is suppose to be installed. Basic Installation takes about 5-10 minutes. Thank you for reading this review, I hope you found it helpful.

Excellent, heavyweight quality. Very versatile aesthetically and super easy to install. I have next to zero experience with home improvement and I put this in no problem. We have a problem gate to our backyard that's had a makeshift wooden latch for years, and my dog can open it easily if she wants to, so this is a huge safety improvement as well; it's very sturdy. I have an auto closer on my fence gate and it's annoying when I'm moving lumber/supplies to and from the front to the back of the house. I saw this in my feed and grabbed the 18" version. Glad I did. Due to the ground sloping away from the fence, the 12" would have been too short (always go longer than shorter). Overall, it holds the gate. I do wish it'd come in a 24" version.
